hi to all. I have PAF and have had some kind of episode today but my Kardia monitor is not recognising it as AFib, also normally my HR goes very high ( 160+) but today it has stayed low ish 55-65. So I don’t think it was AFib but I felt very feint like I was going to pass out . AND although my Kardia says I’m in normal sinus rhythm it doesn’t look normal to me. I’m wondering if it’s atrial flutter ? If anyone can advise or suggest what it might be that would be so helpful. Also my blood pressure is today extremely low 95/54 my cardiologist doubled my dose of candesarten and Nebivolol to bring my BP down further but it feels now like it’s going far too low? I’m 62 female with PAF and CHD.

will post ECG to follow

Please ring cardiology to report these effects. It may be the change in medication. Normal blood pressure is 90+ / 60+. My BP was in that range before AF developed and without any medication, and often still is. Either number can be below those ‘normal’ numbers on occasion. However, what’s normal for me is not necessarily your normal, so you still need to report this to your cardiologist especially with an increase in symptoms.

Thankyou - and I have now reported this to my consultant so will wait for their guidance

Drink plenty of water which can help bring BP up. I get this occasionally and feel very odd when dehydrated but if in doubt seek medical attention.

Thanks you BobD my BP is now going up but oddly my HR has continued to drop - now at 50

The ECG never showed here but atrial flutter will likely be at a fast rate, too (like AF - not always, but often).

You didn't say for how long you've been on the higher dose of candesartan, but feeling faint is a listed common side effect and given the low blood pressure you have, I'd be pointing the finger at that.

Thanks Steve. My consultant has now confirmed candesartan as the likely suspect so am dropping that does back down again. I had been on 4 mg for 5 months and then this was doubled almost 2 weeks ago

Hopefully, you’ll be sorted soon and feeling much better. It’s a hard condition to deal with and not always admitted to be on forums where I suppose people like to portray positivity. I struggle regularly with fear from my heart troubles and wish there were a way out of it.

It’s good that people strive for positivity but also good if people are honest too for sure. I’ve found it all a very frightening experience so far and I’m a fairly strong person p
