Not in south yorkshire. Brews Scottish surely!
A brew is Lancashire. Yorkshire people 'mash' tea (as in beer making). e.g. 'put t'wood in t'oil, get coil in, mash some tey and sit thissen darn lad, and dun't be speykin' Lanky or I'll black thy lamps'.
Sorry - 'Close the door, bring some coal for the fire, make some tea and sit down young man, and don't be speaking like a Lancastrian or I will adminster a blow that will result in two blackened eyes'.

Love it!! As a Canadian, born and bred, I find that it is our differences in using the same language that is so interesting.
Me too. My childhood dialect is English but pretty unintelligible to non-locals. I learned and used 'BBC English' for my work ( with academics and government) and now I've retired I'm reclaiming my rightful accent and dialect. Trouble is there aren't many others left who use it!
They do in West Yorkshire. Another saying is “I’ll mash the tea”. Can’t fathom that one out. 🤔
Mash means 'soak' or 'steep' in old English. A mash tun is the barrel that hops are soaked in in beer brewing.

Not any more, it’s Greater London and I just bought and sold a property which cost me a lot more because of the convenience for commuters to get on the train to London. I learnt to drive practising at the aerodrome on the Rainham road, now they charge the earth to do that.
I did too when it was called the Cardrome. In those days I lived in Romford, Essex.
I was born in Barking even though my parents were in West Ham. Barking has been London for years now. Then I found out when I was born it was Essex. Nooooooooo! I’m not an Essex girl! Was only there for 9 days and then home to West Ham. Think I’ve earned earned my stripes.

When and where? I mean, what vintage are you? I grew up in the TMR and went to Trafalgar School for Girls on Drummond Street. Also McGill. And the Ecole des Beaux Arts (briefly!) Then came to London to live the big adventure and have more or less been in the UK ever since.
Good to hear. I grew up in Verdun, undergraduate degree at Concordia and graduate degree at McMaster (1982). My wife and I were in the UK for the month of May and stayed in London for a week. Got a chance to connect with a McMaster Aluminus, and had a great time.

I live in a town called March in Cambridgeshire. Otherwise known as East Anglia or Fenland. I live by the river Nene and my garden goes down to the river. I have all kinds of wild life e.g. family of swans, lots of ducks, moor hens and even geese. Narrow boats use this waterway and we have all kinds of boats going by. To me this is idylic and I am so privilaged to be here.
