Catheter ablation for Atrial Tachycardia

I was diagnosed with Atrial Tachycardia four months ago and I am still considering my EP's recommendation of catheter ablation. Is there any advantage in waiting for new ablation technology that's just on the horizon? I could cope with waiting if it was worthwhile to do so - I know there was some kind of conference that included patients regarding all these issues recently - can anyone share any insights? Also one of my concerns was the procedure possibly creating new arrhythmias and potential damage to the nerves - is this an unlikely occurrence? Thanks so much for your help.

I know of no likely improvements in techniques either on or below the horizon . EP skill is the key here as AT ablation is not the easiest of procedures. ((my EP found four sites active) I had mine in August and not yet fully recovered (three to six months is normal) but hopeful eventually. Risks are the same as any similar procedure and nothing is risk free, even doing nothing!.

Thanks Bob sounds like there's no reason for me to wait - what's trickier about AT ablation? BTW did you have with GA or sedative?

My EP always uses GA. He says he preferes to haev an anaesthetist looking after his patients. I think with A T it is more difficult to find which areas are firing. My man was cock a hoop he found four sites.

Thank you and I wish you well in your recovery. MY EP won't use GA - but maybe I don't need it anyway.
