On holiday in Florida at the moment lower limbs like tree trunks swollen and painful

Heat doesn’t help confinced dytysem is to blame

Went round a few parks lately checking out other people in shorts

Not one with my leg issues and I’m sure there would be many with AF in those crowds

Heading for pace and ablate later this year but not sure that’s the right way either

Gets me off the drug I suppose

Hate it and my legs

Rant over back in holiday mode

Not conducive to a good holiday I know but put your feet up whenever you can. Also try buying some flight socks in local phamacy ....up to knee length.Wear then for a few hours each day .And.....apparently you do need to drink a LOT even with swollen ankles and legs.I was told this post op. Hope this helps a bit.

I’ve had terrible swollen and aching ankles. Just returned from Spain where the temperature was in the 30s. I blame the Diltiazem and the anticoagulant I’m on. The heat didn’t suit me at all and I had several afib sessions. I was glad to be home- I’ve never ever said that before!

Swollen ankles are common in “older” people visiting hot climate locations. Drink plenty of water and elevate your legs whenever possible. If the swelling goes down overnight it will be reassuring as this may mean DVT is unlikely . If there is significant pain on one side only you need to be sure there is no deep vein thrombosis. That’s my layman’s understanding of the situation.

Unfortunately I get swollen ankles and legs whenever I go on holiday. In fact after a cruise in 2010 my legs were so swollen my skin was splitting vertically. So painful. I have always had this since I was about 50+ and getting worse. I have to take larger size shoes with me . I have been to consultants and they all say it is a vein problem and nothing to do with any tablets I’m on and sorry to say "age" in my case anyway. I am on apixaban, etc etc and I’m sure it is nothing to do with those pills and it used to happen before my afib and medication. Do try and drink lots of tap water and elevate your legs whenever. In the hot weather here I found it didn’t happen so much because I was busy walking around and not mooching about being lazy-ish like on holiday. Good luck we are all with you

Welcome to Florida!. Ive lived here 5 years and love the heat. Drinking water, lots of water, will help much with swollen legs and feet. Im not sure if it is heat induced, rather the length of time your feet are on the ground! I assume you came across the pond in a speeding tube (airplane) so sitting with feet down can be problematic. Then walking through all the parks, and being on your feet constantly could also contribute. But you know your body better than anyone else. I just have not experience swelling of me feet for the 9 months of 95+ degrees of heat, and our winter (1 month) I usually just have to wear socks and a sweatshirt. Enjoy your time here the best you can. How long will you be here and where abouts in Florida?

Been to a few parks standing in ques

Love it here had same issues here two years ago

Diltyzem is to blame I think

Legs go down at home but work causes issues kneeling a lot so up during the day, down over night

standing in one spot is your culprit. I take Diltizem also as needed to slow HR down ONLY when Im in AFIB. I truly hate Disney because of the long lines, the standing which will swell my knees and ankles.

Are at Disney today also and for the rest of this weeK?
