Why not share details of what you have for breakfast

So that way between us we can comment as to whether we think there is enough fat and protein content and in the process pass on ideas to others.

I will continue taking the medication with breakfast as it is more convenient and I never forget it.

In the morning I will have

A bowl of full fat yoghurt with a sliced banana, followed by a slice of toast with avocado and a few mixed nuts.

I think that few people eat a proper breakfast these days. Most important meal of the day I was always told even if mine is a cup of tea and toast with peanut butter now at home. Only if I am staying away do I eat a proper breakfast which is why I always take my tablets with dinner. I would have thought that habit and inertia is more of a problem.

I don't think the time of day you eat is as important as what you eat . Getting the proper nutrients daily is probably more of a concern , but we are creatures of habit. I often eat left overs for breakfast. My husband thinks that is crazy. Guess I'm a wild one. Bob apatite, Pam

Both my sons-in-law do that, it turns my stomach!

A bowl of cereal. 2 slices of Schar crispbread covered in marmalade + a mug of coffee.

Then once a week, on a Sunday, a fry up !

Hi Guys,

I get the feeling you're all too small with the meal when taking xaralto and probably not enough fat. You're all far too healthy with breakfast, except on Sunday that is.

I tried xaralto and had nose bleed. I requested going back to warfarin which I can have a simple finger test to make sure my INR is good. Importantly though, never a nose bleed. This just goes to show how easy it is to get things slightly wrong.

I take the warfarin during my main meal. Easy to remember to take it between main and pudding. You get into the habit of doing it. I also take my statin at the same time as that also needs to be taken with a meal.

When I finished dinner and having a cuppa I take my beta-blocker which needs to be taken after a meal.

Am I making a meal of my pill taking....excuse the pun?

I have just recently started taking my rivaroxoban at lunchtime not with evening meal as I previously did (I will soon explain why).

I would love to take it at breakfast but because I don't eat a substantial fatty breakfast this is why lunchtime is now the best alternative.

Since swapping the time of day I take it, has changed my life completely.

Before I had a very bad sleep pattern, constant waking, not sleeping any longer than 3 hours without waking, terrible dreams, I never had a restful nights sleep.

What a difference just changing the time of day I take rivaroxoban has made.

I now sleep through the night with only the occasional light dream, and wake feeling more refreshed than I have in years.

I cannot believe this small change has made such an impact on my life.

I have Edoxaban which I take in the evening, but from what you say, I am now wondering if this may be the cause of my restlessness for the first few hours of the night. I would like to try taking it in the mornings, but I'm not sure how to achieve this without extending the length of the dose gradually through successive nights. Any ideas?

I think I may switch to noon now as well because I have trouble sleeping with rivaroxaban. Thanks

I take 20mg Rivaroxaban and have always taken it after breakfast which consists of a bowl of porridge made with skimmed milk in the microwave. I add a good handful of either berries or a sliced banana then top it with a sprinkle of cinammon powder and a drizzle of honey. After a call to admin help desk about calorie and fat content with the above I was advised to add a slice of toast and butter but I preferred a toasted crumpet slathered in real butter. Hopefully this will be enough of course when on holiday I go the whole hog 😉

Go crumpets go ! It is vital that the butter runs down your chin though.

I have scrambled eggs & a cup of tea. On the weekends I add in a hash brown. If we go out for breakfast it's scrambled eggs, hash brown & bacon for me 😊

A crumpet sounds a good idea lathered in butter
