Weight gain and bisoprolol

anyone experience weight gain with increasing dosage of bisoprolol

well ive gained 10 kg since i went on 15mg pd but i have also gone on a low carb diet

my consultant said thats how things go

Been on it since about March, and not noticed any weight gain.....bit thick round the middle.........although I am very careful about what I eat because my cholesterol sulks at around 5, but I DO NOT want to take Statins!

I feel quite well on it.....if that is possible with a constant irregular heartbeat...but I am only on 1.25mg a day.

I’ve put about half a stone on since being on 1.25 of Bisoprolol (11-7 to 12-0).

Been on bisoprolol 11months 5mg 6mths 3.75 5 mths no trouble with weight . Had other problems like slowing me down and over tired odd days.

Yes, I gained a stone and a half on Bisoprolol, I am on atenolol now and cannot move the weight, I walk twice daily, eat healthily, cut down portions and am now trying to get rid of sugar but I am stuck with this extra weight.

I think because Bisoprolol slows you down you’re not burning calories the way you used to. That was my experience anyway. I felt like I was walking through a wind tunnel in the beginning. Now on Atenolol and feel better. Have cut carbs and lost nearly the stone I put on while on Bisoprolol 👍

Hi Glosfrog- I have been on 2.5mg Bisop for one month and have put on 7 pounds. It is so depresssing. I am going to cut out carbs and see if I can lose it. Unfortunately i have a bad back which means i find it difficult to do much exercise. Good luck, Liz
