I had my ablation Tuesday & all went well. All dodgy electrical pathways/beats were removed. They did find some old scarring on my heart & my heartrate is quite low. We are hoping for some improvement over the next few months. At some stage I will also be getting a paemaker inserted.
I just wanted to ask about others' experiences with the bruising afterwards.
I look like I've been in a fight. My groin in particular looks hortendous. Anywhere I may have had a canula, iv, any type of needle etc is black & blue.
They are all really sore & I'm shuffling around like I'm 107 (I'm 52!)
I know we're all different, just wondering when the pain might subside a bit.
Luckily my heart & esophagus feel fine.
Thanks for reading!

All normal from my experience and as we explain in out fact sheet. It can take a couple of weeks or more for the bruises to go. My left wrist where they put in the arterial line for BP was the most uncomfortable. My tachycardia ablation was 15th August and my bruises have all gone now.. Still a slightly uncomfortable spot in my groin if I press on it , so I don 't! lol 😂 #
Use these discomforts as a measure of how your heart has been attacked and these things are useful in guiding your recovery.
Thanks for your quick reply. I was told I'd bruise, but no mention of how painful. My groin is definitely the worst! It will definitely stop me doing too much too soon, although at the moment I can't even imagine doing anything for quite a while yet.
My bruising was there for a good six weeks . ...it went right down almost to my knee! Quite impressive! I was sore at the beginning too and it took several weeks for the tenderness to ease. However I had no really big lump in the groin and I felt all was well.
Thanks for letting me know! Mine is spreading & getting darker. It looks like I've lost a fight 😋 I do have a lump in my groin but luckily it decreases with an icepack. It's so hard to get comfortable 😣
I had some pretty impressive bruising after my 2 ablations. Not terribly painful though. I’d call your doctor’s office if it’s still hurting, or getting red, hot or very tender. Good luck with healing!
For me that was the worse part of my first ablation, it took me a lot longer to get moving and pain free because it spanned from entry point to my right knee, and my right knee is already damaged from Cricket.
