It's been a little over a year since I had 4 cardiac arrests & had a pacemaker/ICD put in. Cardiologist started me on Lipitor (Atorvastatin) in February. It worked great, and my cholesterol fell to half in a couple months. I didn't have any side effects from the Lipitor at first. I have no cartilage in my knees since 1987, and after all this time of greatly lessened activity, my leg muscles atrophied and my legs hurt all the time. But after almost 5 months on on the Lipitor, I started having worse leg pain. I don't know if it's the Lipitor causing it, or if my legs have simply atrophied more recently. If anybody has had side effects like this from Lipitor or other statin, can you please tell me WHEN you started having the problem? If this worsening leg pain IS a side effect of the statin, would it have taken 5 months to show up, or would I have had the leg pain sooner? thanks!

Anybody Else Taking a Statin?
You might get better info if you look on the HUL statins forum.or smilar. I'm sure there will be one. I won't take them myself.

I was on Lipitor since 2004 and had no problems ( muscle pain ) till I started on Flecainide in 2015 at which time it became so severe I was taking pain killers.
I stopped statins last year and had immediate relief ( no muscle pain ) , I would also note that my eyesight improved also after stopping .
Your script for Lipitor is probably more for its anti inflammatory effect so please discuss this with your cardiologist.
My father had to stop taking Atorvastatin due to the pain in his legs. Not sure what he took instead but if I talk to him soon I will ask. Good luck. By the way, I have been taking it for 6+ years and have no major side effects.
Check Dr, Google about statins, the primary side effect is leg and joint pain.
I have been taking it for 18 months, no problems at all
