Lipitor vs other statins

My cardiologist changed me from lovastatin to Lipitor after heart attack. Lipitor has a lot more side effects. I asked to be switched back and she said Lipitor has more cardiac benifits??Does anyone know what the heck they may be????

I’ve not heard of any cardiac benefits, but when I first starting taking statins 8 years ago I was on Simvastatin at first, but was told that Atorvstatin is more effective meaning that 20mg of Atorvstatin is the equivalent of 40mg Simvastatin.

Sorry meant to add that Atorvstatin is Lipitor’s other name.

What side effects are you experiencing? I am interested because I was similarly changed.

For one hair loss! Whereas lovastatin do sent cause hair loss. Also get leg cramps and leg weakness at times

See my comments to Mrahbar below. I have a very healthy head of hair but have noticed a lot of moulting lately. The weakness in my left leg is currently being investigated. I'm totally fed up and can't see myself taking statins ever again!

Oh, ye gods! I have just looked at this over breakfast & will view it again. What are we supposed to believe? I really don't want to take a statin ever again and I need to get my magnesium checked.
