Yes. My foot swelled up like a football. Docorbtried diuretics but it made no difference. They hen reduced the dose, that made no difference either. However, for some unknown reason the problem has eventually resolved itself. Hope the same for you.

When it resolved itself did you work out why? My swelling incidents seems to have reduced - but my ankles and feet feel almost numb each morning and cold. Did anything different happen for you?

No... just swelling that goes down for the most part in the morning... but when i get hot they go back up... they aren't cold i don't think much at all.... nothing different... :(

I never found a reason. I have noticed my feet get very cold but it doesn’t seem connected to the swelling.

It is a know side effect although so far, it hasn’t affected me ......

Yes it’s terrible sometimes and redness appears over time very painful

Usually goes down a canny bit after a night in bed

I came off all drugs for six months and my legs were normal but had to return to the drug machine again

I have asthma so stuck with Diltyzem

Option for me is a pace and ablate

yes... it makes my legs red and my knees. mine go down at night mostly.... some days back to normal.... been drinking more water ...that seems to help some as well... i know too many people that ablate didn't work for long :(

I have the same problem here in Coastal Alabama - so hot! At night my feet are so puffy, but almost normal by morning.

I currently use it only when I have an event. My EC wants me to start using it daily.

Does it affect your energy level?

I've tried several medications, mostly beta blockers and none of them have allowed life to remain worth living.

I am no longer allowed to take ditalizem as it made me have a heart rate of 150 bpm at rest and I have not felt so ill for a long time.

oh wow.... that would be awful... my rate is slow for sure unless i have a afib event... try to keep them away.....

I also take the dreaded diltiezem. It DOES work to control my heart rate, but the swelling is a real issue among others. I have weaned it down form my 2 x 240mg/day to 1 240mg every other day and since I've done that, no swelling. I DO take alternate non-prescription herbs, etc... which I believe allows me to do this. Nattokinase - anti-blood clooting and blood thinner, Hawthorne capsules 2-3 times daily 500mg, and omething that really helps, TCM (Taditional Chinese Medicine) Tian Wang Bu XIn Pian ("Heartvigor formula), 2-3 times daily. Where I get it >> activeherb.com/tianwang/

And Fu Fang Dan Shen Pian activeherb.com/danshen/ ("Cardiovigor formula), 2-3 times daily.

Best of luck.

Thanks for this post. I actually posted the same question a bit ago and received some great informative replies. My GP is retiring and the new Doc was not convinced it is caused by the meds and he wants me to have blood test then depending on the results send me back to the cardiologist. So it is on the merry go round again. I hate that it seems they give us one pill for something and then that causes other issues - which of course is when they will want to add another pill.

oh i agree... I totally think its the meds... too many people with the same issue on the same meds!! but maybe he will find something new and different to use :)

I was in hot weather recently and my knees swelled up and also my skin became very sensitive to the sun with this drug. Now I am in cool climes my knees are far better but maybe food caused that flare up. Who knows perhaps combination of high temps, med and diet. I also find this drug affects my moods, makes me feel low! However, it keeps me in rhythm and controls heart rate. I would like an alternative but is there one? After awful time with AF, I am stable now so worried about changing the drug. If I feel my heart racing and fearing AF, I have very cold shower and put cold water round my face and neck. I also then drink very cold water. This seems to calm things down.

my knees do the same thing in the heat...... exactly!!!!! so i think it is the meds for sure. but again.. keeps things calm.... i hadn't tried to do the cold water thing...but i will

thanks tons for the advice on that!!!!
