I had an emergency appointment at the device clinic today with two technicians and an arrhythmia nurse. It seems that the episode I had on Saturday was AF. I am not supposed to be affected by AF now, as I have had a pace and ablate. But apparently the pacemaker got a little confused and followed the pattern of the AF instead of bypassing it. Silly pacemaker!! The technicians spent some time testing and tweaking the device, customising it for me. Fingers crossed then!

I guess it’s a little bit good news bad news. Hopefully it nothing serious but just a little tweaking.

I had my pacer checkup today too. I told the tech nurse that I feel some kind of run of ectopics once in awhile, so she checked and said it was not Pvcs. She said it might be pacs which are throwing off the atrial sensing/pacing timing, it switchs somehow causing a delay. Not sure if that is right though. I’ve had more and longer bouts than usual since I got home, not sure if she changed any settings. She said everything looked good.

I’m in Afib about 7% of the time but they are short bursts that just randomly come and go which adds to the often mode switching that I can feel. I have 5.5 years on my battery and my intrinsic beat is 34 bpm. The Clinic is no longer setting appointments, she said they will call me next June to set up a time to come in. Left me feeling a bit orphaned, lol.

Well, good that it is not PVC's, I think they can tell what sort they are. There is no doubt that it is not as easy as we are told at first. The device reacts in different ways with us because we are all different and we are not computers. If you still go on getting the ectopics and they are unsettling, then contact the device team again. That is what I have had to do. I have seen them 6 times since March and each time they have said 'See you in a year'.

Hi there. Do you have a CRTP? Can I ask what device you had implanted, Medtronic/Boston Scientific etc.,? Are you in the States? I am in the UK and had a Medtronic Solara implanted about fourteen months ago. A few teething problems the first six weeks but since then seems fine.

Hi Kingslip, I have a dual lead Medtronic, it was implanted almost 7 years ago. I only got the av node ablation last December. I’m not sure if my next pacer will be a crt-p. Hopefully the ventricles will stay in proper synch. I have no home monitor. I’m living in western Canada.

What is the story behind you getting a crt-p?

Hi there. Just seen your recent post. I have a CRTP Medtronic Solara. Implanted fourteen months ago. What make do you have ? Are you in the States or U.K.? Do you have a 24/7 monitor by your bedside so they can contact you if you need to be seen? So sorry you are having these problems. I hope things settle .

Thanks - I am in the UK and my device is St Jude dual lead. No - I do not have a remote monitor.
