Has anyone been able to have laser treatment for gum removal/gum disease while staying on an anti-coagulant?

I don't want to lose my teeth but equally I cannot risk a stroke? I can't be the only person with this problem. What happens here?

Typically, you can stop the night before the procedure and then resume the next night

Really, this laser guy in the UK is asking I stop 2 days before and a day after. He says I can inject something into my stomach instead?

Is that what people do? Stop? I find it so hard to believe that cardiologists do ablations with people on anti-coagulants but for removing gum tissue you need to come off.

I've recently had (7 hours) of dental work & advised by cardiologist to come of blood thinner 48hours before & recommence next day

I am taking Apixaban 5mg twice daily. I recently had oral surgery under GA for the removal of retained tooth fragments in my lower jaw. The maxilla oral surgeon told me that I should take my medication as usual.

I did not have any problems post surgery. This was in

Australia.

It might depend on the anticoagulant as apixaban leaves the system quickly and warfarin very slowly. I had a wisdom tooth removed and did not have to come off it.

Maybe ask your EP.
