If you google, does Eliquis make joints hurt? Multiple answers: NO.

I have seen replies from other people on it that say they have had a lot of pain. The only thing you can take to try and ease it is Tylenol and it doesn't help at all.

if you say tylenol then you must be in US. Could it be fillers in the Eliquis if it is manufactured in US rather than what we have here in UK?

I have been on Eliquis for a year now, and have not had any increased muscle or joint pain, but everybody is different. See if your doctor can switch you to a different OAC and see if it relieves the problem.

I was on the same dosage of same drug after an ablation last July. Due to numerous side effects my cardiologists said they were unfamiliar with, ie muscle and joint pain, headache, gastro upsets, extreme fatigue, I went off of it May 9th. Feeling much better but still fatigued more than I like.

Doctors always deny side effects for some reason.

Chronic joint and muscle pain is probably just a result of our malfunctioning auto-immune systems rather than a reaction to a particular drug. Mine has been controlled for years by Diclofenac but following a TIA and the Danish report highlighting the heightened risk of stroke we tried other inflammation managing drugs but I am back on Diclofenac as it is the only one that works and gives me the best QOL

I've been on it periodically and not noticed joint aches and pains outside my normal knee osteoarthritis flare ups in winter/after activity.

I've had no side effects from the same dosage of Eliquis. Any chance you are you also using a statin?

Yes. I take 5mg of rosuvastatin daily.

That is definitely a more likely culprit.

I have been on the rosuvastatin for years and it never bothered me before. why now??

Statin intolerance can come at anytime. Some people get it fairly quickly but others can develop it after a long time. You could try stopping the statin and see if it improves. Why are you taking it. Have you had a heart attack?

I take 5 mg Eliquis, no problems. I would suspect the statin.

I've been on apixaban 5mg twice a day since May 2018.And taking atovarsatin 20mg once a day.

No problems at all.

I've taken both Xarelto and Eliquis. Xarelto at any dosage caused debilitating side effects--muscle pains and spasms (couldn't walk and took my breath away); night sweats, bleeding gums, flank pain and kidney decline. Of course, my doctor said it couldn't be the Xarelto even though that was the only medication I was taking. I switched to 5 mg/2x day Eliquis and, sure enough, the side effects went away (except the flank pain). After two months, I started getting the muscle pains again and my doctor reduced my dosage to 2.5, which made the difference. I've been on it now almost a year with no problems at all.

Based on what I've read, I think you have to try different anticoagulants to find the right one at the right dosage for you. Don't give up and be proactive with your doctor. I asked for the lower dosage of Eliquis. But, maybe it's not the Eliquis at all.

I know from personal experience that statins do cause terrible muscle pains. But, if you've been on them for awhile with no problem ,it could be the "new" drug or an interaction of the two. Over time, statins deplete CoQ10 & Vitamin K, and that causes the muscle pain.
