Has anyone noticed weight gain as a side effect of taking xarelto?

Weight gain with xarelto
No. Been taking it for three years. Most likely it's the Afib.
No weight gain after 14 mo of xarelto. Now my betablocker Metoprolol is another story! Cardiologist says no, but I know I was successfully losing weight pre betablocker, now Im just holding my weight. I need to put more physical effort into it but so far havent convince myself to try harder!!!!
I agree about the metoprolol. Not only does it make it harder to lose weight (I don't care what the cardiologist says), it also makes you more tired, and therefore, less motivated to exercise. I have experimented with taking mine in the morning, and in the evening, and it doesn't seem to matter.
I take 25 mg twice daily, glad I dont need a huge dose.
Very interesting
(In my opinion) - I feel the whole afib condition generally leads to weight gain. I find with the necessary medication - and my prime suspect is the Beta-Blocker - there is a general slowdown in activity, combined with a slower pulse and lifestyle. I also find that if i try to ‘exert’ myself the effects of the Beta-Blocker limit and restrain the heart from pumping harder and suppressing attempts to exercise. It might of course in my case be laziness.
Guilty as charged!!!
I was on rivaroxaban for over a year and didn’t notice any weight gain, but have been on apixaban now for 2/3 months and I have gained weight and although been dieting for the last month it’s still there.
I suspect it’s what we eat and less exercise - in my case anyway as am waiting to have a toe amputated and find it difficult to walk far
I don’t think it says anywhere in the pamphlet about gaining weight for any noacs
Best wishes
Hello Shc1973. I am fairly new to this forum and have not posted before. However, I was particularly interested in your post as I have been on Riveroxaban 20 mg as well as Lisinopril 2.5 mg since January of this year. I have been on Bisoprolol 7.5 mg for a couple of years and I am also on 40 mg Furosemide which was increased to 80mg daily for a week a couple of days’ ago when I was in A&E with severe chest pain and breathlessness. Thankfully it was not a heart attack but I am retaining fluid which has been a recurring problem. I was diagnosed in 2011 with paroxysmal Af but not treated until some years’ later (probably because I didn’t want all the drugs). It looks as if the AF is permanent now. I have a Kardia and have only once had a normal reading and a few unclassified ones. For some time until a few weeks’ ago I had been losing weight unintentionally - about 15 kg - and my GP said my BMI was too low but recently my weight has gone up by about 8kg over only a few weeks and I have not significantly changed my eating habits so I am wondering if it is a side effect of the meds or it is the fluid retention. I am seeking no my GP tomorrow so will raise this with him. I have largely lost interest in food as it all tastes odd and I wonder if this could be a side effect also. Apart from all of this, as if it wasn’t enough, I have had a nasty bout of shingles since January which does not seem to want to clear up any time soon and the pain is awful so I am taking the max dose of paracetamol daily plus 3 x Amatriptilyne to try to manage the pain. Any advice would be welcomed!
