Anyone have creative ways to stop afib that worked? I tried all the usual suspects cold water..vasulva maneuver..nothing worked so far..been in it all day and dont want to go on blood thinners again for cardio version (Pradaxa almost killed me)..I actually stopped it last time when I went to the gym but this time..nope.

Appreciate your time!

Kevin

There's a yoga breathing exercise that has worked for me before. Lie on your back, bend your knees up so they are above your hips and your lower legs are at 90 degrees. Take a breath in for a count of 4 then breathe out for a count of at least 8. As you breathe out, bring your knees into your chest so you curl into a ball. When you think you've got all the air out of your lungs, try and breathe out more! Breathe in again for 4 and release your legs out to the starting position. Repeat several times. It helps to reset the diaphragm and focus should be on a good long out-breath.

Good luck!

That's interesting and a procedure I've not heard of before Caroline. Must paste your answer onto my stopping AF page. Thank you for sharing.

As soon as I get the slightest awareness of my heartbeat not being quite right, I start doing deep breathing until it goes away. It usually takes just a few seconds or minutes. I don't go into panic mode of oh no I have AF, but then I've had attacks for 14 years now, so it doesn't hold the fear it used to now.

I think the breathing is relevant and I do it multiple times day and night. But I would suggest adding magnesium to your diet in the form of magnesium citrate or magnesium glycinate.

Hi Kevin I've just bought a book from Amazon called Beat Afib by Lisa White. She cured hers using a natural approach including acupuncture. Hope this helps

Thank you for the replies appreciate it. 5 months ago I stopped an afib episode lasting 9 days by going to the gym and working out. When I left the gym I was no longer in afib. This weekend I had atrial fibrillation come back again and this morning I went to the gym to try and replay this outcome. It worked. After working out on the first machine..the seated leg press..I noticed that my pulse was fast ..of course expected working out..but also was in rhythm again...Unfortunately for me right after this I almost passed out and had to call for an ambulance. I believe I had increased my atenolol dosage to deal with the increased afib heart rate and when I converted..my blood pressure plunged. I was okay by the tie I hit the hospital. But that is twice now I have used working out to stop afib so hopefully that can help some on here..

Best,

Kevin

A few months ago someone here reported that running up two flights of stairs, twice, stopped his Afib. A strange idea in some ways, because Afib often comes due to over-exercise. Not so strange though. In some circumstances, a fast HR, which tends to be regular, can correct the Afib. But if you exercise too much, the irregularities click in so as to slow you down.

Another unusual way I saw somewhere was to lie down and put your feet vertically in the air for five minutes or so. Get help for this.
