Anybody ever noticed they had irregular beats a while after taking in a lot of protein? I ask as I had a 400 calorie 'protein' cookie yesterday, which contained about 10g pure protein. Only ate it as I was at a family function and there was nothing there I could eat (currently on a diet for gastro-related issues) so picked that up from a local vegan shop.
It's the only thing I can pin down to what could've caused this new round of ectopics since last night.
Cheers

Doubtful 10 gm of protein caused you any issue as it is not an abnormal amount. As a comparison, there is approx 40 gm protein in chicken breast. Were there any artificial sweeteners in the cookie, some have issues with added fake chemicals
Thanks hoski. No artificial sweeteners. I'm very wary of those anyway, aspartame and Acesulfame K cause me big problems.
I didn't think it'd be the protein. Other than a large meal at 3pm, I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Hopefully it was a vagal thing and passes overnight.
I'm currently - due to gastric problems - on a GF, dairy free, wheat free (fun free) diet. I am also eating a lot more veg, drinking fruit and veg smoothies and a lot of pure fruit juice too. It's certainly helped but in recent months, the irregular beats have become more frequent and, if anything, more unpredictable.
My body tells me don't even try to eat a steak and recently I had rather too much delicious beef carpaccio in the pub and no AF but felt very weird i.e. don't try that again!
Drs and medical experts just don't 'get it'. I had a single ectopic beat about an hour ago. Just felt a bit.. weird ever since. There's so many different 'side effects' to irregular hb that many people can't understand.
I consume 1x protein shake a day blended with some fruit. It's never brought on any untoward ectopics or irregular beats for me. But then again, everyone is different.
Was there anything else in the "cookie"? 10 grams of protein is only 40 calories. I ask because high fiber foods are harder for me to digest and I get an uptick in ectopics. Protein/fiber bars or oatmeal always gets me.
Looks like a pretty healthy set of ingredients. I have never tried chicory root fiber (that I know of), but flax seed and pea protein would probably set off my ectopics.
