Breathless and legs are weak

Hi all, i had a cardio ablation in 2016 and a few cardioversions before and after that. The thing is im in normal synus rhythm at the moment and have been since my cardioversion in july. Thing is im always breathless and my legs are always weak and after the slightest bit of excercise i have to sit down. Ive been like this for ages now and im starting to take it as the norm now but its really frustrating? Im sure its to do with my heart, ive been to docs and his not sure either and then im sent to hospital and they say we dont know as your in nsr. Does anyone else have this? It seems to of started after my ablation?

Hi Steve, I used to feel like you describe and blamed that feeling on my AF, but it was caused by an under active thyroid.

Have you had your thyroid function checked?

Jean

Hi Steve

If your symptoms are not related to your medication, raised BMI or loss of conditioning, then in your position I would be asking the GP to check all the usual blood tests; second to be sure that an unresolved phrenic nerve palsy following ablation has been ruled out; third a repeat echocardiogram; fourth, basic lung function tests and chest X-ray.

If nothing turns up then referral to a cardiologist and if necessary a respiratory physician would seem justified.

I developed these symptoms after my ablation which was my second so I knew it was unusual as I was also in NSR. Symptoms worsened over 6 weeks until I literally couldn’t open my eyes no matter how hard I tried.

It turned out that I had a undiagnosed, underlying muscular/neurological condition. I doubt that you have this particular disease but I would keep going back to your doctor and ask for some wider tests and don’t all assume it caused by your heart, it may be, but you need to cast the net wider as lots of other things cause these symptoms.

Thanks all for your feedback, i see the doctor today and his given me a ventalin pump with the attachment so ill see how i go with that. Also i start new job monday on 3 month trial, but had the call saying my cardioablation is ready and can i do it the end of april and was supposed to be sorted last October! Think ill have to refuse it as had to lie about my heart just to get a job, as none of them wanted to employ me with a heart condition it seemed. Its nothing but a pain in the arse this condition, cheers all, not sure how long ill have to wait to be offered another ablation too. What a mare!
