Any other cat owners out there? Have you tried taking BP before and after a good stroking session? Flapjack stop it! Whenever I sit down little Ally comes and sits on my lap and won't go till I have covered myself and all around with sheddings. The other day I did a before and after BP check and seemed to have lost 20/10 during the stroke . session.
Remember the old saying. "man needs a dog to make him feel like a god and a cat to remind him he isns't."

I believe God gave us beloved pets for our enjoyment. Ive got a little rescue poodle on my lap as I type this. He likes to b my shadow even though technically he is my husbands dog. He also likes to park on my chest when in a fib. My dog is a german shepherd, glad he doesnt try to lay on my chest
Iβm highly allergic to cats so I donβt indulge in stroking pussy cats. Dogs on the other hand are another matter. BobD - weβve been doggy day care for our grand puppy George a few times. Heβs growing but heβs still super cute.
My great lump of a Border Collie and I cuddle and do some mutual grooming - I notice she always lies with her head on my heart. I stroke her and she licks and grunts with eyes half closed. Works absolute wonders for the stress levels - probably both ways.
I need some de-stressing after just having read about the Mueller enquiry and then seeing your post title.
I need de-sressing everytime I see the Orange Toddler on TV or hear his voice. Or a red MAGA hat in the lobby of mysenior living building. Raises my pacemaker rate!
Hmm.....got two cats Bob! They have been relaxing, I would not disagree, but now at 19+ they raise my stress levels quite a lot, as one has dementia and yowls a lot, like just when we are trying to go to sleep, and the other is totally deaf and calls out a lot in the night. They have a good life though...bless 'em!
I still miss my rescued siamese cat, Irina, who lived with me until she died from cardiomyopathy at 17.
I gave her kitty lasix every day for years and called in sick for work the day she died so I could hold her til she was gone. I've had many animals over the years. She was my favorite.
I have a golden retriever and his name is Shadow He always seems to sence when I'm not to well and will come stand by my side Lift his paw round my arm and pull it to him for me to stroke him He loves cuddling up next to you on the bed with his head on your arm Animals surely sence when we need a little love or a cuddle I think Perhaps it's mother nature's way of caring
Unfortunately, he succumbed to cancer several years ago.
Since my late wife also succumbed to cancer I have thought about getting another cat - but I am hoping to move soon - and I don't think any cat could replace him.
We were adopted by a chocolate-point Siamese, but he went back home after making up with his brother.
We have five cats and two labradors , the eldest cat is 20yrs old and need keeping an eye on . The youngest dog is 14months and being a labrador still quite energetic. They all have a roll to play in keeping me sane but I am quite sure two in particular are very aware when I am feeling underpar . The young lab sits very close and makes intense eye contact , almost as if he is looking into my soul . Thank goodness I have no guilty secrets lol
Thought I was going to read a reprise of Mrs Slocombe in "are you being served" but agree 4 paws canbe very relaxing although my rescue dog has helped me cope better with stressful situations as well as he reacts inappropriately to other dogs so I am an expert ninja and taker of calm breaths in the face of adversity!!!
Ah Bob, master of the double entendre! But I agree, cats (and other animals) go a long way to relax us. We had cats all our married life in spite of my husband being asthmatic. When our last cat died we got a non-moulting dog we loved dearly, but we still remember every single cat and how individual they were and talk about them with great affection.
I so miss my cats but my husband doesn't want to fall in love with another one and then lose it as we have 3 burried oldies in the garden already. So in the summer I leave the back door open hoping one will come and adopt us but so far no good. I know it would do us goodπ. Maybe this yearπ
All my cats found me. We had three orphan feral kittens from an old air raid shelter on the factory estate where I had my race shop years ago. I used to feed them but had to use traps to catch them and they were alive with fleas but patience and love and three months later they were the most loving three we ever had. We called them Edmund, Queenie and Baldrick. Queenie was the last do die about a year before we moved down yere in 04. Six months later we had four new mouths to feed and since then lost three and gained one so sadly down to two right now. I have rescued probably another ten from different workshop areas but had to have them re -homed due to lack of space. Living out in the country it is amazing how many strays pitch up. I think we have "Easy touch " written on our lane in cat.
