For those on the quest to discover cause and effect of AF,well here's an example of how random it chooses to appear..or not!
Over the past fortnight I have been laid up with acute gastritis and d and v. I tried to keep up fluids but essentially it was in one end and out the other( drawing a veil over details )
I had awful stomach cramps etc. I stayed upstairs for days . Hubby left me a flask of hot water and herbal tea bags and cold water when he left for work at 6am . By day 4 things were calming down a bit so I ventured to get dressed . Very Woozy, took me ages to get spruced up a bit,had to keep sitting down..went downstairs on backside( ow as had hurt coccyx recently too!)
Still woozy, took bp 60/40! Thought the batteries had gone so replaced..57/35!
So rang GP. Give home his due he did ring back quite soon . Told me to stop my water tablet and BP meds take bp three times a day and increase water.
After a week let him know and might take me off bp meds or reduce .I'm normally 120-30/ 65/70.
All is well now . It did make me smile as in all this drama not a blip or flip of AF or Flutter even in the depths of the Bathroom excursions! You wouldn't credit it .....so was it because my bp was so very low that AF didn't get going ?
Just weird😁😁🙄

My goodness, I’m so sorry to hear how unwell you’ve been my friend, so glad you’re on the mend. Low blood pressure can be caused by dehydration which can be serious, so phew 😥!
Good news the AF didn’t add to your problem ... random indeed.
Take it easy for a few days and keep those fluids up 💐💕 x
Sounds awful - so glad you're on the up and up again. Yes, isn't AF grand - not a blip when you expect it and when sitting comfortably, feeling really good - wham! Certainly, mine always started when I was doing nothing at all!
When my BP drops my heart feels as if it is struggling and beats slightly faster - whether that keeps the beast away or not, I don't know. With me, the Flecainide is my little helper. Keep drinking water and stay well. xx
I always feel a bit foolish pressing the like button. Nothing to like about your D & V . Hopefully you are fully recovered by now. Take care, and keep your fluids up.Love Rienij
Sorry to hear you have had a rough time. Weirdly i never get af when having d and v either despite the obvious dehydration. Dehydration affects my bp though.
Given my digestive and gastric issues trigger my af i have never been able to fathom why an upset stomach like gastroenteritis etc hasnt affected or triggered my af, but something seemingly innocuous can trigger af. Pleased you are on the mend now.
Good news you are on the mend. My take on no AF is that the body/heart stayed strong to deal with the problem. However, AF can occur later when you start relaxing and giving yourself a treat for what you have been through....so (and you are not going to like this bit) no binge watching of Netflix series on the sofa with that box of chocs left over from Christmas!
Hi sounds like you went through an awful time! We take all health precautions hoping to not provoke the miserable visitor and when we really expect it then it's " nah I'll sit this one out - I don't like to share the stage". But thank goodness it didn't on top of everything else. Did you get tested for Covid - as I knew someone whose symptoms were the same as you. No cough just really bad d and v.
No wonder you took so long getting down the stairs! Poor you. I would get tested as the others suggested as my sons's friend had COVID-19 with your symptoms. Hope you are feeling better. x
Glad you’re feeling better, that sounded dreadful. It’s a wonder you were actually able to get up at all with BP that low. You’re right, AF is a very strange thing. I broke my shoulder 3 weeks ago, and was convinced that would start it up, but no, thank the Lord.
Glad to read you're feeling better. I blacked out with BP that low and ended up in hospital. Maybe your HR was OK though. I too had heard the COVID can visit in this form. If so, celebrate those antibodies and keep taking it gently.
I feel a bit of a fraud when I log on here because everyone else seems to be having a much harder time of it. But my recent AF episode has simply baffled me. Random is the word alright!
As a consultation with a cardio is beyond reach at the moment I'm gleaning experiences like yours and trying to fathom out this strange condition. Thanks for adding your experience.
Welcome to the Crazy Heart Club! There are some good patient advice leaflets on here that might add to your understanding as well as our lovely members.Best wishes and thank you xx
Did my back in a couple of years ago could hardly move , the pain was like a spasm if I moved ,couldn’t get out of bed some days .The wife had a good laugh! Never once did I get AF for well over two weeks . Yet before this AF was almost daily or at best weekly occurrence. Normally comes on when I go to bed as soon as my head touches the pillow ,heart slows down and boom .I did notice at the time that my HR was higher due to the pain etc.
