I take 75mg of magnesium twice a day with food. I get mine from Natural Rhythm in the US (I’m in the UK). They are called triple calm. I spoke to my cardio about taking them and he really didn’t comment much other than tell me that too much can cause ectopics?? I’ve researched lots of information about them and my own experience is that they do seem to reduce the amount of ectopics. However, I also follow a high fibre diet with regular bananas for potassium.

I take magnesium tartrate. They have 500 mg magnesium per pill. If your body can take it 800 mg (a day) seems to be an ideal dose for a-fib.

When I say `if your body can take it` the problem with mag is your body gets rids of excess. By this I mean you may have frequent trips to the loo ! For me, taking 500 mg in one go, tends to lead to an upset stomach. I split it now - half in the morning and half at night which seems to do the trick.

It`s another trial and error job I think ! Start off with a smaller dose, say 250 mg a day, and build it up a little until your body tells you otherwise. When it does you`ll know ;-) Try and split the dose rather than taking it all at once.

Best,

Paul

According to Forms of Magnesium

aor.us/blog/forms-of-magnesium

Taurate or Orotate are the best .

Look at the bio availability ( elemental magnesium ) in any you choose

as this is an indication if they are ethical in their ingredient list.

If the tablets suggest a level over 125mg elemental magnesium they

have used mag. oxide without declaring it.

I have been caught out by this before.(magnesium chelate is one obscure way they

pass it of )

Check out the book Magnesium Miracle by Dr Carolyn Dean. It is fantastic and gives you a lot of information. You can also do a google search, she has her website with lots of information.
