Hello - my name is Ally and I’m 58. I had an atrial tach ablation along with a clean up of the pulmonary veins he ablated 17 years ago for AF. Ever since the procedure (8 weeks ago) I have severely short of breath with walking or sitting upright. My heart rate never goes above 110 but it rises from 64 - 110 just waking up. I’m now on Corlanor 5mg BID and the Metoprolol I’ve been on for 17 years. Anyone else experience this?

Possible ablation complication
Hi Ally, I was the exact same. I had my cryoblation of the pulmonary veins on 31/10/18. It took at least 9 weeks post procedure for my heart to settle down and me to catch my breath. I was raising to 140 just by going upstairs and up to 125 just standing up.
My GP put me on a beta blocker called biosoprolol to help it calm down. After 10 days it’s started settling down. It’s still not perfect but a lot better than it was. And I’m not as out of breath anymore.
Go and see your GP again if it carries on though to make sure there’s nothing else going on.
Take care wishing you all the best x
Can't say I have but in the grand scheme of things its very early days into the recovery, probably not even half way at this point!
Ally, I guess there are not many here who have had an ablation that long ago but the symptoms you describe are not uncommon after an ablation so try not to worry. This link will take you to an AF Association factsheet which I’m sure you will find helpful.
If your breathing was normal and then you suddenly became severely short of breath immediately after your ablation, I would say this is uncommon. With you being in the US, I imagine you have been in touch with your EP? Have you had a chest X-ray?
