Only 9% of the population get enough of this?

the Lancet , after analysing 40 years of studies and reports, declares that only 9% of the population eats enough fibre, essential for significantly lowering heart disease, stroke, type 2 Diabetes and colorectal cancer compared to those who do not.

The British Nutrition Foundation has published a 7 day meal plan , available as a downloadable PDF, with a full nutritional breakdown for each day.

Worth a look perhaps?

Not sure how I'm supposed to fit all that in with 7 of my 5 a day, a glass of wine to help the heart and making sure I don't eat anything that has been "linked to cancer" but I suppose I could try.

I understand that those much advertised high fibre breakfast cereals have so little fibre in them that it might contravene the trades discription act. lol 😂

Hi Ian,

The notion seems sound. Certainly, worth a thought, however one increases the fibre intake. Replacing biscuits by fruit, grain based products by root vegetables etc. I do try

My misses is experimenting with Chia seeds which are reputedly high in fibre:- 11g of fibre in only 28 grammes of seeds . The speed in which she has been running to the bathroomrecently suggests the figures are correct!
