Had my 2nd ablation in March 2018 apart from a short af episode in the three month period all has been good then wham! Monday 10th December heart went out for about half hour but then reverted back on its own...hereβ Hoping itβs just a blip π
Please let it be a blip π: Had my 2nd... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Please let it be a blip π
Sounds to me like your ablation has been very successful. I donβt think we should expect a complete absence of AF after an ablation. Have you got a handle on your triggers?
Alcohol and dehydration but I tend to be careful with what I drink ( never any spirits only beer and always a set amount ) but I think you are right even people who have no history can have episodes. Thanks for the reply
So hope it's just a blip for you. Let us know how you get on please.
Jean
Thankyou... let us know how you go π
Can I ask did it come about some hours after having a beer or 2?
And what alcohol content do you tend to have now, drinks per week?
About 7/8 hours after, usually if I hydrate before getting in bed and through the night (which is hard to do sometimes) I am fine never have a problem. I stick to beer and have being honest between four to eight depending on the event
I must admit, half my reason for ablating is to be able to continue alcohol, but at a much more modest quantity than prior. (Was 25 per week, hoping to get away with about 6 per week later!)
But it seems a strong link, and reality may be you need to never go more than 2-3 at a time, and no more than 1-2 nights per fortnight.
For me it's the long term damage that it might be causing, and once Afib starts again, it's too late to then stop or reduce.
It's hard to get info from the EP's, but have you asked your EP:
- What sort of stats are there, or at least his own anecdotal evidence, that those having a few drinks post ablation returning to Afib more quickly than those that give it away all together?
I'll be asking mine when I next see him.
How often do you have a drink, multiple times per week or just a few fortnightly and otherwise off it?
Perhaps you are starting to get excited about Christmas! After my second ablation I went for months and then started to have the odd AF., never as intense as previously and shorter in duration. From what I was told it seems quite normal.
