HI everyone.it been about 5 months since I had pace and ablate but I'm still breathless in every thing I do even small things like turning over in bed.i had blood test done for bnp which they say was slightly high.i am going to see my heart specialist sometime next year .could this bnp test cause me to be breathless and what is bnp.regards alan
Still breathless: HI everyone.it been... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Still breathless
Do you mean does a raised test explain your breathlessness?
A raised BNP (brain natriuretic peptide) may indicate a degree of heart failure which causes breathlessness.
Previously you said you were better when the rate was turned down to 70 and the plan was to reduce it to 60. Did that improve things further?
Is your GP treating you for your breathlessness?
Hi oyster.I never thought if that but when my pm was set to 70 I felt really good then he set it to 60 that's when I started to feel worse.as for seeing my heart specialist it's going to be in 2019 not sure when though.my gp isn't treating me either I'm on medication apixiban. ramipril. doxazosin .and a water tablet and tildeI'm. Not good I know
Just to add to HappyJo ‘s comprehensive reply, I would be asking the GP for a review of the medication. Four of those will lower your BP, are you really taking all of them?
Have you been back to the pacing clinic since the rate was dropped to 60 and you got worse? If the technician sees how bad you are, he/she will talk to the EP. It’s another way to speed up review by the EP.
As the others have said you should get this sorted now with your cardiologist. I have permanent AF and Heart Failure and my only option now is a pace and ablate which I am considering. My EP has said that I should be able to come off all meds except anticoagulant after this is done. I am on Nebivolol, Diltiazem, Ramipril, Rivaroxaban and flurosemide (this only when necessary which is rarely). Do you have HF as Ramipril and water tablet are for my HF problems. Next time I see my EP I will ask again about the meds as this is one of the reasons for having the pace and ablate. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Hi peugpt.
Have you put in place a program of weight reduction to lesson the stress on your body?
Hi everyone.not been on here for a few days.thanks to everyone who have replied to my posts.just a quick update on my never ending problems.seen my doctor today and the first thing he said to me he did not agree with me taking doxazosin he stopped me from taking them but increased my furosomide tablet to take 2 a day.he also told me I had heart failure but they are trying to rebuild the heart by trying different medication on me.this morning I decided to stop taking the doxazosin myself I never agreed with them also.I also have 90% body coverage of psoriasis which also doesn't help me and someone commented on here about a weight program for myself .ok I do carry a fair bit of weight but I just don't have the energy to do any exercise, I do try to eat healthy but it can be so hard to do it and believe me I do try.is there anyway I could strengthen the heart muscle.again thanks for all your replies and I will get back to you.😀
Digoxin is used in the treatment of heart failure. It helps the heart to contract more forcefully. Your cardiologist may suggest this at your next appointment.
