Started in March, with occasional dizzy spells, diagnosed May with AF & bradycardia on Holter. Saw cardiologist in August, and told him of absolutely awful dizzy spell in May, thought I was about to die. 48 hour Holter only showed some ectopics. Further dizzy spells in September, with again another horrendous impending doom one! GP contacted consultant, just had a seven day Holter, but didn’t have any spectacular dizzy spells during this time,. Pulse seems to vary around 51-54, my feelings are a pacemaker would help, not sure. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms? Im beginning to lose confidence in going out and about on my own, which is just not me, and Im only 66.

Hi

What medications are you on? Perhaps they don't suit you? When are you due to see your cardiologist again?is he or she an Electro Physiologist or just a cardiologist?

have had bad dizzy spells often so know how you feel.once it was labrinthitis..nothing to do with my heart!

best wishes xx

Yes. For a while I had episodes of feeling very light headed while sitting, but they lasted no more than a few seconds. At that time, I was taking Bisoprolol 7.5 mgs daily. I reduced the dose and have had none since.

My Kardia showed short runs of 3 beats at 2.8 second intervals, at a rate of 22 beats per minute. Holter monitoring confirmed this. Apparently the cardiologists only start thinking about a pacemaker when the interval exceeds 3.0 seconds.

Unless your dizzy spells are more obviously typical of vertigo, and last much longer than mine did (in which case if they were due to heart block you would faint) I would agree with you that you may go on to need a pacemaker.

I read somewhere that patients who developed heart block which resolved after stopping heart medication, were more likely to need a pacemaker later than those with no history of previous heart block.

I had a pacemaker fitted earlier this year to fix my slow heart rate, absolutely delighted with it!!

Are you on Bisoprolol? I had to have my dose halved due to dizzy spells and very low blood pressure.

Hi - just read your post. I too was diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome after 8 years of putting up with palpitations. Apparently I have brady and tachycardia and a pacemaker was fitted over 3 years ago. I am feeling much better now. I take bisoprolol 5mg daily and apaxiban twice daily. I too get headaches and dizzy spells, but I put up with them as docs say it is migraine.

Hope you feel better soon.

Best wishes

Carol
