Apixaban double dose

2 hours ago I took my normal dose of Apixaban. Stupidly I was going to take my magnesium supplement 5 mins ago & I took another Apixaban. Thoughts please. 😝

This happened to me late one evening .I rang 111 and they were not too worried. A doctor rang me MUCH later and said not too worry it happens! We sometimes give patients a double dose anyway he said.If you are worried call 111 or your GP surgery to reassure yourself.

Thanks - I would think they must build in a bit of error into the dose for silly people like me. Think I will just miss tonight’s dose now to compensate

I've done that too. And sometimes I take a Simvatatin instead of the Apixaban as they are nearly identical in shape and colour! I've asked and been told it's nothing to worry about .

They are nearly identical I take Simvastatin too.

I've asked the chemist to see if there is a more round simvastatin and there is! He rarely remembers though, so no doubt it costs a bit more But I'm going to remind him again now

Just don’t cut anything up with sharp knives or shave your legs 😉 Minimise risk.

I did it too! My Gp said just miss next dose.You can take up to20 mg as a dose if you have a known dVT, so it wont cause bad bleed ,he said.
