Did I take my tablet or not? Edoxaban.

I guess this must have happened to other people.

I have a regime for my tablets with an alarm etc.but it failed today.

I just realised that I can't remember if I took my edoxaban this morning. Its now bedtime.

I'm guessing I should err on the side of caution and just wait and take it again in the morning. Or, because its over 16 hours since I might have taken it I could probably safely take it now. However that would mean I couldn't take it at the normal time tomorrow. Quandary. Should I just assume I took it and wait till morning?

Not the first, that’s for sure Drounding and you certainly you will not be the last!

On the basis that we are often asked to miss a dose prior to having some forms of medical intervention, it would probably be safer to wait until the morning rather than having a possible overdose. No doubt you have checked the manufacturers leaflet, but as I understand it, the increased risk of missing a dose is minuscule, but as you know, we are not medically trained!

I have that done that a few times and have left it until my next dose. I know I should organize my medications (will get round to getting a pill organizer one day) but at the moment one thing I do is write the date on the packet of tablets when I first use them so I can work out if I am up to date.

Whether to take it now or not is a question for your doc. I use a pill planner box with pills in each slot for each day, that way there is no question.

Thanks everyone for replying.

I'm going to leave the edoxaban till the morning.

I also don't know if I took my biisoprol either in the morning. Because I'm a bit anxious I've taken that one now. I can deal with that one easier tomorrow by taking a half dose in the afternoon.

Pill box it will be from now on!

Just taken my edoxaban, a couple of hours earlier than usual. Reason being, Ive just woken up with AF. Typical.

Hopefully it will subside and go back into nsr soon. I've taken 100mg flecainide now as pill in pocket so touch wood in an hour of so it should be normal again.

What a hassle having AF. It's great having the forum with people who understand.

The flecainide has done its job. What a great drug. Now to get my pillbox sorted out.

Couldn't cope without my daily pill box! So please make sure that you do get one.

Glad to hear that all is resolved now.

I also use a am/pm 7 day pill planner. I can still forget but I always know for sure.

Stupidly I already have a good weekly pillbox but never used it. Today's the day to put it to use.

Dont feel bad, it took me awhile and a couple “ oops did I take it or not” moments to give in to the box👍🏻

Hi, this used to happen to me. I bought one of those pill boxes where you put your pills for each day. They are available from most pharmacies and just a few pounds. Easy and quick to check if you took your pills or not! Good luck.

Not all tablets at suitable for pill boxes, some need to be kept in original packaging to protect from light or moisture.

Yes! Very important to know this! Some pills specifically state in their instructions that they are not to go in any other containers. (Pradaxa being one of them)

I have missed my Apixaban in the past with no real effect. A seven day pill box is a boon.

Been there drounding more than once but the worst one was when I thought I had got my pill box insert upside down so I didn't know if I had taken all my night time BP tabs and my edoxaban on the morning instead of night.I missed my tabs that night & took my edoxaban next morning .just for info I had one episode where I thought I had taken 2 edoxaban within 6 hours.calls to 112 made be glad I am overweight.it is less of a problem for an overweight person than a slim person.
