Hi, has anyone who owns the Kardia gadget thingy had the problem of it not registering at all when fingers are placed on the 'pads'? I've changed the battery but it's still not working...any help would be appreciated. And whilst on the subject, is anyone using the Apple watch with the special strap if so, is it worth investing in one? Thanks in advance. x
Kardia gadget....: Hi, has anyone who... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Kardia gadget....
I’ve only had a problem when the device isn’t close to the microphone on the device I’m using it with (smartphone or whatever). Note that whereas phones have their microphone at the bottom of the screen, some tablets have the microphone at the top.
Hi Chris no problems here.
I use mine with an Ipad and have to make sure my Kardia is placed on the same side as the microphone socket and right next to it then I moisten my fingers.
Have you read the User Manual...
I tried to post a link but couldn't ,to acess it Google.....

I have one and never any problem. Before you go investing in another gadget perhaps the kardia is faulty. If above hints don’t work, contact kardia.
Regarding the Apple 4 watch, I was told that the software to detect AF was not available yet. It sounds as if the Kardia is faulty, unless you have not positioned it correctly. This however seems unlikely on the assumption that that was working correctly at one stage.
I have had occasional problems with the Kardia where sometimes it won't register the fingers and other times the signal strength shown on the phone will flicker rapidly between no signal and excellent. In my case, fiddling about with the batteries has fixed it but sometimes only after replacing the original battery back again! So I suspect it's not really the battery but the process of removing/replacing is disturbing something else in the device.
I don't think my issues are due to interference as it has happened in multiple locations and ones where it worked fine before.
All in all a long winded way of suggesting you contact Kardia support!
I had this problem. My fingers were too dry, if you lick them before placing them on the metal plates at the back of the device it might help. It does with me. It sounds strange, but the moisture ensures a good contact.
Sometimes when a phone updates it removes the authorisation for the Kardia app to access the microphone and stops it working. If you know your way around the phone you can reauthorize the microphone in settings/apps. If not, call Kardia support. It could be the device but in my case it was the authorisation and I had to figure it out myself. All's well that ends well though
Thanks for your replies, I should have mentioned that my Kardia is 3 years old and up until now I've had no problems with it, didn't use it for a couple of weeks and now it's decided not to work at all. So as new battery has made not a jot of difference, I will get in touch with Kardia support and see what they say, what's the betting the advice will be to buy a new Kardia!
Yes, I strongly suggest that checking out the app should be your next step. Maybe a better way would be to completely remove the app, give the phone a reboot (switch it off and then back on), and then re-install the app. That way, the permissions would be sorted out from scratch again.
Other than that, what the others have said. Check that your microphone on the phone is still working - try making a phone call? (Mine's almost never used for that!
I have had this a couple of times, go in to settings/apps/force stop on the kardia app.
then launch the app again. It's fixed my issue every time
I have had my Kardia a very long time.
I used it for several years without any problems, then changed the battery and used it for several more years.
I had the battery changed again a month or two back, and it worked OK for a few days and then packed up.
There had been an iPhone update, so I checked settings... and made a mental note to re-install the battery sometime... I have just done so, and it is working again (note: you need a very small screwdriver on my Kardia).
I have an Apple Watch 4, and they have not released the ECG application yet... otherwise, it seems OK... but it is about twice the price of a FitBit?
Hi Chris, For assistance please contact our support department at support@alivecor.com or 855-338-8800.
As I am a complete technical illiterate, I will get my son-in-law to check this out for me and see if he can update the app. In the meantime, thanks so much everyone for your valued advice, I really appreciate it. If all else fails then the Kardia team have offered to help so there maybe a light on the horizon!
