Frustrated!

So 5 months after my av node ablation and pacemaker fitted I’d just managed to get fit enough to walk up and down gentle hills feeling really good. Best I had In 10 years. Then 3 weeks ago I slipped in the rain onto some tiles broke my pelvis and chipped my humerus. I am just getting around now slowly on a crutch and right arm in a sling with painkillers. But breathless again doing next to nothing grrrrrrrr so upset. Scared I may never regain my fitness again and what harm I’m doing to my heart with little activity.Anyone else been here?

As Kevin would say "That is SO unfair!!!" Sorry to read about your accident. You need to learn to fall better! I used to be very good at falling over without hurting myself but the last time I stepped backwards and tripped over a low wall really hurt. Didn't drop the PIzzas I was holding though. Lol. Take it easy. Small steps forward. You will do it.

Thanks not much choice really but 2 steps forward 1 and half back “stamps foot” 🤭

You will be ok.Ive had 3 back ops got terrible AF on amiodrone and I’m ok most of the time and I’m 47.

Thanks I was on Amiodorone but when it didn’t improve anything I came off it gratefully since it can have horrible side effects.

What rotten luck! But so positive about your pace & ablate - thank you for that as there are a number of us who may have to face that eventually.

Realistically we are all a hair's breadth from disaster at any stage. I am always in danger of falling but currently have enough padding to ensure a bounce!

Yes high alert from now on! No padding unfortunately so I need to watch out. 🤣Anyway anyone can get run over by a bus at any time 🤭

Just so you don't feel alone, I had a sort of similar experience.

After my second ablation I was feeling good and looking forward to my OH 60th for which I had planned a surprise beach and water sports party in Cyprus with family coming from UK. 4 days before I slipped on a wet slope, cracked my head open and tore the rictus sheath muscle causing internal bleeding. A week in hospital and very limited mobility for weeks after. I did persuade them to let me out for the party but it vwasnt how I planned.

Ow! That wasn’t good.I shouldn’t be feeling sorry for myself. Just need to get on with it 😊😊😊

Hi dragonflyjan

Sorry to hear this. One year ago yesterday I fell down a flight of stairs in the Hebrides I had to be air lifted off the island. I sustained many broken ribs two broken feet and a lot of ligament etc damage. Due to AF I wasn't very able to do the physio very well but I am now fit and well and building up a good bit of moderate walking exercise. So hang in there, rest, look after yourself you will heal.
