Just commenced on edoxaban after being on warfarin for 9 years. Had to change as stopped smoking and my INR has been all over the place. I'm experiencing bad nausea which I can deal with but I'm also feeling like I need to eat everything is this normal?

I don't take edoxaban so can't comment on its possible effects, but maybe your desire to eat is a consequence of giving up smoking? I guess it could be the 'hand-to-mouth' thing which you may be missing now you are not smoking. Might sucking extra strong mints or chewing gum help with the feelings of nausea and also stop you wanting to eat all the time?

I agree with Carol. When I gave up in 1982 after 40 odd years I put on two stone in so many months pigging out on chocolate. Still carrying one of those!

Smoking in 1942, BobD ? Were you even born then???

More seriously, weight gain is a common consequence of giving up smoking. If that may be your 'problem' rather than the edoxaban you might like to know that there's a Health Unlocked forum called 'Quit Support' where people help each other out with all the issues connected with stopping smoking.

My sister got through the first few months with E-cigarettes, and then her need of those tapered off too. They stopped her cravings for food. Sorry, don't know about the nausea though.

I have been taking Edoxaban for two years and have not experienced increased hunger or feelings of nausea. However, on the leaflet that comes with the tablets, feeling sick is mentioned as one of the possible side effects of taking it. If it continues why not discuss it with your doctor and see if an alternative would suit you better.

Hi I have AF and my Dr subscribed Edoxaban. I have not experienced any adverse side effects. We discussed the pros for taking this drug and it seems that you are not excluded from eating any food, especially dark greens, like you are on warfarin. There are many things you are not supposed to eat with warfarin because of increased blood thinning but it seems it is ok with Edoxaban. It is a fairly new drug and quite expensive so I feel privileged that I was offered this.

Hello, I am on rivaroxaban and all is fine. However I only have one working kidney and sometimes my urine goes dark like coca cola. I'm told it is a slight bleed and not an infection so my GP changed me to Edoxaban. I haven't taken it yet as I was silly and had a hard time coming to terms that I had to take anything and had AF and felt I needed the permission of my EP to change. I honestly don't know which is the best to take, Apixaban, rivaroxaban or edoxaban??????. I believe there is another which is like dabigram (sorry spelling). Perhaps anyone on here has delved into which is the best and safest one to take........Bob???
