Whilst there may be some people who have AF and an ICD I also think there is an ICD website which may be more helpful as we are mainly for people with atrial fibrillation. .

Hi Lotus

I'm really sorry to hear your news. Do the medics think it was because of your AF that you had the cardiac arrest? I'm wondering whether because you didn't mention ICD's in your title whether more people, who've had one fitted, would have seen it and advised if you had.

Hope you soon get your driving licence back.

Best wishes

Jean

YES THE YEARS OF A/F THEY THINK CAUSE IT ALONG With left bundle block. heart was not block anywhere and no heart attack they said electrical fault that's why I can eat and drink what I want and returned to work

I had a short period of PEA a year or so back so know where you are coming from. All tests showed no reasons and I do not need an ICD. (Won't go into the reasons here but if you PM me I could explain. .) Broken ribs from CPR hurt like hell don't they.

Nice car by the way.

My niece had a cardiac arrest at 23. She was lucky that people around her knew how to do cpr until the ambulance arrived. She, too, has no memory of the week surrounding the incident. She was fitted with an ICD before she left the hospital. She had an ablation a while after because her heartbeat was erratic when she lay down. In the 11 years she’s had the device , she has never been shocked.

Hi lotusvx220

My friend had an icd fitted in Bristol at 54 in June 2015 a year after he had a heart attack. His hasn’t gone off at all , he was a bit apprehensive to begin with, that soon went and now he leads a normal life , holidays, work etc he goes for his check ups and it does downloads at night sometimes so Bristol can check on it . All good , we are both going to jean an bobs breakfast meet in September . Good luck lotus and I hope you have a shock free life .
