Strange feeling

Having just been back in NSR after 12 hours of a fib, I had lunch and went back to my office (lucky to have one in the garden) I was sitting at the computer when I suddenly got very strong and fast hard beats and felt really dizzy and thought I would faint, got really scared, it must have lasted for less than a minute but really scared me. I am now resting in bed, tired as I don’t sleep well when in AF. Has this happened to anyone?

Sounds like Tachycardia of some sort. Unfortunately it can hit you just like this, as you describe. Why you suddenly have this, however, is anybodys guess. I used to get sudden bursts like that, before my successful ablations for AF. If worried see the GP. If you have aconsultant it might be worth trying to contact via the secretary.

Regretfully it can do that in between bouts. It can also happen if you were given different meds recently, i e Flecainide, Propofenone, even Lisinopril can trigger these bouts. If it is you will prob have to stop them.

Be well

I enquired here about strong beats and was told that they could be caused by the beta blockers according to a doctor. If you felt faint, however, that should be checked out imo.

did you feel that the change in your heart beat was irregular i.e a short bout AF? If it was regular so not AF it could be that your BP was low and heart was compensating by beating harder and faster. Maybe warm outside and after food blood goes into your gut to digest it so can reduce BP.

To be honest it was so fast I am not sure now, it was not long after eating

I guess if it occurs again try to check your pulse to assess if it is regular or irregular and if the dizziness passes when you lie down that tends to point to a drop in BP. If it happens more often it is worth getting checked out. Hope you go on OK.

I also have this happen, fast heartbeat, and almost blacking out, but I have found if I just sit quietly for a couple of minutes, it goes away, and has never (so far) turned into an AF episode, they arrive unannounced!
