Focusing on the positive

This is a family I met on my morning walk by the river. It was too cute not to share.

The good thing about being off work is that I can focus on myself and make my health the number 1 priority. I’m loving having the time to go on longer walks and to the swimming pool a couple of times a week (when I’m not in hospital or feeling too debilitated). I’m also loving the thinking time I now have.

Yesterday I saw a dietician who reinforced that I was on the right track - we’ve always had a pretty good diet. The only recommendation she made was to add some fibre to my morning protein shake. My cardiologist suggested losing 5-10 kilos. I’ve lost 6 over the last 4 months. Being on so many drugs does not make things easy that’s for sure but I’m focusing on the positive. My jeans are looser and when my heart isn’t going crazy I’m feeling pretty good.

My ablation has been rebooked for 14 September. Hopefully that will go off without a hitch this time and I can recover then eventually get back to work fitter and thinner than when I left. I am missing the money but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how much money you have if you don’t have your health.

Well done on the 20kg! It’s funny, I never had any heart issues until I injured my ankle and foot. The pain and surgery obviously put a lot of pressure on the poor old heart. Oh well, onwards and upwards!

Great stuff kaz, on the right track, it's a pain in the a*** trying to get fitter between blips I know the feeling. My weight was coming down steady then had a holiday, that didn't help, then got a bad cold for a week which as usual has made life a bit harder with more Afib. Think it does make you focus on the good things I notice a lot more now and especially pick up when people aren't feeling their best, something I was guilty of before. Keep the good work up 👍

Thanks Andoiduser. It’s so easy to get out of our good habits when we are on holidays or feeling unwell.

I love your photo Kaz, there's nothing like the beauty of nature to heal. I feel I must get out for a walk ASAP now. Thank you for sharing.

On waiting list for my ablation and (fingers crossed) will be travelling to Perth next Feb. Looking forward to hopefully feeling better to enjoy it, last time I was there I really did feel better than when in UK. As my GP said....um - makes you think!......

There is something about the big blue sky, the water and the light we have in Perth that does make you feel better. If you make it over here message me - we can meet up 😃
