I have severe LV dysfunction due to MI with Ejection Fraction about 30%. When I went into AFib this resulted in Acute CHF and EF about 25%. After meds converting me back to NSR CHF resolved and EF returned to mid 30s.

Thank you for your reply but not sure what CHF and EF mesn and percentages. My husband had cardioversion and is in nsr but having a heart scan in a couple of weeks wondered if because he was in af when last scan was done it will be ok bow he is in nsr??

He had cadioversion after heart scan so hopefully him now been un nsr and all well his levels will have gone back up. Cardiologist didnt mention anything about scan details at follow up appointment so we were very shocked to see wording ‘’severe’’ hope this improves on next scan in 3 weeks time

Thanks

Hi.. if your husband is back in normal sinus rhythm I would expect that there is increased filling of the left ventricle and the echo cardiogram should show less abnormality in The ventricle. You might want to ask the cardiologist what is ejection fraction is and if there is any a Aortic stenosis which would exacerbate this condition hoping for the best for him ethereal

Many thanks for your reply it has reassured me a lot. Will ask cardiologist.

I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) last year and further diagnosis identified LVSD and dilated cardiomyopathy. My Ejection Fraction (EF) is presently around 25% (EF is basically the percentage volume of blood in the heart pumped with every beat. It should be greater than 50%). In my case, the cause is believed to be AF or other spurious cardiac activity. Meds alone did not work for me nor did a first ablation. I am now scheduled for a pacemaker and further ablation.

You will notice that although the initial diagnoses for ethereal and me are similar, the causes and treatment are very different. You are probably most concerned at the moment but you should take comfort from the fact that he is now under investigation and there are some great treatments available. I hope this helps.
