Does a severely enlarged left atrium eventually lead to left ventricular enlargement?

I have a mitral valve prolapse with moderate / severe regurgitation, mild pulmonary hypertension and a severely enlarged left atrium. If left untreated can this lead to left ventricular enlargement?

This forum is for people with Atrial Fibrillation and although we get questions relating to other heart issues, your question I suspect will be way beyond most of our posters experience.

We understand that but your question is probably addressing the wrong audience.

I am so sorry to hear you have pulmonary hypertension. It is a dreadful disease and I wish a cure could be found although I know that are many causes of pulmonary hypertension. I wish you all the very best and hope that you can keep as well as you can for as long as you can.
