I have a mitral valve prolapse with moderate / severe regurgitation, mild pulmonary hypertension and a severely enlarged left atrium. If left untreated can this lead to left ventricular enlargement?

Does a severely enlarged left atrium eventually lead to left ventricular enlargement?
Hi - I think this question is best addressed to your doctor.
This forum is for people with Atrial Fibrillation and although we get questions relating to other heart issues, your question I suspect will be way beyond most of our posters experience.
Maybe post on the BHF forum?
Hi Jo,
Thank you for taking the time out. I was just wondering really if anybody else has been in my situation and if so what treatment they are having?
Best regards.
We understand that but your question is probably addressing the wrong audience.
Best wishes and hope you get answers but I don’t think you will get them here - look for more general heart forums such as the BHF - British Heart Foundation who also have a forum on HU.
Thank you. I will certainly try the BHF.
Best wishes.
Hi Jo,
Thank you for your reply.
I am so sorry to hear you have pulmonary hypertension. It is a dreadful disease and I wish a cure could be found although I know that are many causes of pulmonary hypertension. I wish you all the very best and hope that you can keep as well as you can for as long as you can.
Best wishes.
