Been a while for me, coming in, now 2 years post successful ablation bar some blips n brief episodes.
Have just been discharged for a gynae operation and they said on discharge note comorbidities - Left ventricular dysfunction (impairment). Aware from my BP pharmacology consultant that they diagnosed this from last Nov when I had a Nuclear perfusion test. But not really had a proper consultant review since then.
Will phone them and ask for one. But meanwhile thought it would be good to hear other's experiences.
Am aware I have been trying to build back my fitness and not feeling very strong like before. Hope to hear where others are at ? N What you find helps .
Thanks a lot

Left ventricular dysfunction can range from slight to significant. The etiology and degree of impairment should be assessed. The simplest initial study would be an Echocardiogram which would show the structure and function of the chambers and the valves and tell you your cardiac output ( ejection fraction).I had significant impairment due to prior heart attack and when went into afib it fell below the amount necessary to stave off heart failure ( EF was 26%).Fortunately I reverted to NSR with Tikosyn and my EF increased to high 30's and am no longer in CHF. Please get an appointment with a cardiologist to have this properly assesed and treated if necessary. Etheral
Thanks v much Etheral, yes I am still under cardiology. I had a nuclear perfusion test which showed my LVD and ejection fraction as around 35% I think, in Nov (only know this from a summary from my Blood pressure consultant). Am going to ask for another review with my EP next week. As didn't get a full summary from them.Have just had a minor gynaecology operation and they quote the LVD (impairment), as a co morbidity.
Have been feeling like I can't rebuild my fitness very far like before. Though after my ablation in 2019, my EF went back up to 55 I think on an MRI.
I am 56 now and would like to be fitter. How is your general fitness now ? Are you feeling a lot better ?
I am 69 now. I had my MI 18 yrs ago while skiing deep powder in the back country of British Columb ia. My fitness level now is substantially reduced from prior to the MI. With a near normal EF of 55 , I would consider other causes for your lack of fitness. Possibly if you are taking a Beta blocker, this could be one suspect. Certainly other drugs or medical conditions can cause your problem. You need to see a general internest or equivalent to have this diagnosed. Your cardioligest can rule out another cardiac cause. Best of luck, etheral
Thanks Etheral, yes I have gynaecological probs that have been causing anaemia. I had a minor op the other day that removed a polyp, but picked up more issues. I may need a hysterectomy that I am not considering lightly re effects on my heart.
On discharge, they quoted the LV dysfunction (impairment), so think I need to chase my cardiologist for a proper understanding.
What makes you think my situation may be other factors, if you don't mind my asking ?
Yes, I was told this at a rate of only 30%, but other than being put on Bisoprolol 2.5mg. Added to my Candesartan 4mg. Which I stopped taking a week ago owing to rashes. No one as said anything else to me, when I ask just get blank faces. As far as the heart goes I have had no effects other than the occasional flutter. My real problem is RA which I suffer 24/7.
Currently can only do arm exercises owing to difficulty standing, will be seeing Phisio. In10 days time for others like legs. RA, rheumatoid Arteritis.
