Went in for a 6 week post ablation follow up and my EP ordered me to wear ZIO XT patch. That thing fell off after 7 days. After wearing it few days, I know for sure it would not stay on 14 days as doctor ordered. Have anyone had any experience with this device?

ZIO XT Patch fell off
I also wore a Zio patch. Since I exercise a lot and sweat a lot, the patch started to come off after a couple of days. If you hold the patch in place for a couple of minutes, it will temporarily reattach. I remedied the problem by using duct tape. I called Zio and asked if duct tape would interfere with the connection. Zio told me that the tape would not interfere with the connection, but it did not approve duct tape because of allergy issues. Since I know that I am not allergic to duct tape, I used it and it worked great. The only problem was that it hurt a little taking it off, even after a shower.
Hi, I was suppose to wear the patch for 2 weeks. After one day it started to fall off. Called help line and they said to use medical tape but they couldn't recommend because of allergies. I had to retape every day but it never really stayed attached to my chest. Just kinda hung on from the tape. If I bent forward or lean to side, it wasn't even touching my skin. Tape was the only thing holding on. Finally I had to completely remove because mold started appearing.
I too have a Zio Patch and in my opinion, this is the worst engineering design I've seen in years. The adhesive is useless. I've made it very plain that I'll never use a standard Holter Monitor for more than 24 hours, but this thing didn't last that long.
what can the FDA be thinking - this thing is worse than snake oil.
I got the Zio patch 2 days ago, it fell off the first night. I'm a heavy tosser and turner while I sleep. Somehow my blanket got caught on the edge of the patch and as I was turning around in bed and I was adjusting my blanket, it ripped the patch off my chest. Ouch! I It was like 3am in the morning so I frantically looked around for the patch in the dark and used some medical tape I had in the bathroom to tape this thing back on.
Have not called them yet even though the pamphlet says to call them if it falls off. What are they gonna do? Make it reattach over the phone somehow? It fell off again on the second night and I can basically just expect this thing to be useless every night going forward. So I'm just going to remove it before bed and reattach it when I wake up.
I like the idea of this thing, and I'm sure the monitoring part of it works just fine and would do its job just fine if it could just stay attached 24/7 like it's supposed to. Just make sure the gooey contacts on the wings of the patch make contact with your skin near your heart, it doesn't need to be directly over it. If you see a blinking light it's not properly making contact. I used tape over the contacts on each side to hold it onto my skin. It's a bit uncomfortable, but it is what it is.
Hello, as part of a student project during my biomedical engineering studies at Tulane University, I am working on improving the ZIO Patch.
To do this, I need to ask some questions to users or potential users of the ZIO Patch. If you are interested, please send me an email at the following address: dlemranialaoui@tulane.edu
Thank you !
I think the company is shady. I had issues with the patch immediately after it was put on. When I left the clinic it fell off and out of my shirt onto the ground. I reattached it and it fell off dozens of times over the next 2 days. It was prescribed by the cardiologist for 2 weeks and after less than 3 days Id called my doctor only to be told to call zio help line. They advised me to send it in and then they said they had enough data and could process results, which cost me over $500 out of pocket. They said I have no issues. I don’t trust that result at all and I’m still experiencing flutters, and sometimes chest pain. I don’t trust Zio’s results at all. If I drop dead Zio’s crappy product and unethical business practices will be liable. How could a proper result exist after 2.5 days of the thing repeatedly falling off when it was prescribed for 14 days.the product is garbage, and their crappy way of having me send it in so they could bill me through the nose for inconclusive results is unethical. Lousy awful horrible product from a lousy awful horrible company.
Totally agree. Its rubbish. Came off a lot. Would clean with alcohol wipes and reattach. Tape didnt really work
Not rubbish, Accurate, likely best on market.
Key is preparation before placing. Nurse cleans and has special salve that prevents slippage.
If one places theirselve, carefully read instructions and call doctor or Zio for help .
Also should call Zio if it falls off or not working properly Green light should always be on.
Hi, I have the Zio Patch too. Half came unstuck. I bought Tegaderm film that is used to covering wounds and tattoos. It works great. To hold the Zio patch on. You can buy it on Amazon.

When I had a monitor on I used Rock Tape ( kinesiology tape ) its meant to be non irritating and also comes in the H20 brand which is suggested if using in water .
I had very slight reddening after seven days which disappeared quickly after tape removal.
After wearing my Zio patch for 7 days, I took a long bike ride in the heat of summer. By the time I got home the patch was ready to fall off and the orange light was blinking. After several calls to iRhythm (Zio) I used paper tape to re-attach. Unfortunately, 30 minutes later the monitor started blinking again indicating the monitor was not communicating with the electronic signal coming from my skin. This went on for 2 days. I then called iRhythm again and asked if it was OK to apply ultrasonic gel amazon product Spectra 360 Gel or any other brand to the blue contact area on the wings of the patch. They said it was OK. I applied a small dab on each wing yesterday and the monitor has been working flawlessly. Sweating from excercise or showering washes away the electrode gel that comes on the patch when it is first applied.
