Diagnosed AF in 2015, use multaq and eliquis. Multaq caused my heart beat long pauses(>3sec) and dizziness. Doctor says l need a pacemaker. I am going to install it tomorrow. I had low platelet #,<90k( l doubt eliquis May decrease my platelet #!?). Is that a concern for the pm procedure? l stopped taking eliquis for 2 days. Very frustrating, one treatment leads to another, no real cure in sight! Any help will be grateful.

Sorry Stvhan, I can't help at all, but I am sure someone will be along shortly who can. Best wishes.
I have not had a problem with Eliquis and I have been on it for about 2 years. I also have a pacemaker since 2015 due to slow heart rate caused by afib meds. My heart rate has always been in the 50s but got worse on afib meds. I stop Eliquis 2 days before any operations or tooth pulling. I had an ablation in Feb and hope that if it continues to be good that I will be able to come off meds in time. I don't know how long they keep you on meds but I can't wait to be off them! Good luck with everything!
I lost my first comment, trying again. I didn't take Multaq, I took Ameorderone about 8 years, similar, but more side effects, but also more effective according to studies than Multaq. . After having pneumonia twice I decided to stop it, though uncertain if it was related. About a year later afib returned. I have now had 2 ablations. The first didn't help. The second worked I've been out if afib about 4 years now. Often people even need 3 ablations I hear. The meds I take are Metoprolol Tartrate 100mg twice a day, valsartan, Fenofibrate, Levothyroxin, and warafin. I think I am doing well. I hope your pacemaker is want you need. I think I even had afib as a child, just didn't know it.
