I have been taking Eliquis for 9 months, and my platelets have dropped from 150,000
to 118,000. I believe the norm is 150,000 to 400,000. I am waiting to see my EP after
my 2nd ablation. Should I be concerned with the drop? Thank you !

Not sure if this will help tvperson, but I have a long history of low platelet readings around 110 to 130 which have been checked out by the "vampire" department at my local hospital and has been put down being OK for me. I started taking warfarin back in 2014 and changed to Eliquis (Apixaban in UK) and my recent blood tests show no change. I would recommend that you see someone in the Haematology department to have it checked out as it might be caused by something unrelated to AF and anticoagulation.
Thank you for your reply.
Hi TV person I take Apixaban and have no idea what my platelet level is I don't supposed most people do unless they have a pre op check.
My understanding is that Apixaban a NOAC is not an antiplatelet if is an anticoagulant and there is a difference. Unlike antiplatelets which prevent the platelets clumping together to form clots anticoagulants slow down the blood's ability to clot and reduce the formation of fibrin and that prevents clots forming.
No doubt your EP will discuss any problems when you have your meeting.
You haven't been taking aspirin have you?
You should definitely see your dr and mention it. healthline.com/health/throm...
