Has anyone else come across the issue that even though the Tambocor Caps and Tabs should both work "according to our pharmacist" (Apart from the Caps being Controlled release) that one works better for you than the other? My mother first had AF about 10 years ago and we found quite early on that The 2 x 100mg tabs worked fins. But when switching to 1 x 200 mg CR Caps or even 2 x 100mg CR Caps the AF would return more frequently. After we noticed this my mother stayed on the Tabs and the AF was controlled for several years. Due to a lack of Tabs at our pharmacy (about a year ago) we switched back to Caps and about a month later the AF returned again every other day. We did not think to link this to the switch to caps, but as it still does not improve, we are thinking to switch back to tabs. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!!!

The active ingredients are the same but controlled release should explain things. The drug is spread over a longer period that just a shot when you first take the tablet. The latter then degrades over time rather than a small amount being maintained.
One must also remember that AF almost always progresses . Many people say "Oh the flecainide isn't working any more" when actually the AF has progressed and become more frequent.
Others may have their own experiences as I am only going from the technical point of view having only taken the drug for about three months many years ago,
I have been on flecainide 2x100 tabs daily since Oct 2015 and no Afib at all. No experience with the caps. Be hesitant to switch at this time.
