Second AFIB attack

Hi, I’m happy to be part of this group. I am a female and my first AFIB attack was 2 years ago after prepping for a colonoscopy. I had my second attack last week after catching a flu bug which I think dehydrated me. I should have gone to the emergency room sooner than I did. But, fortunately there was no harm to my heart. I take xzerolto and a pill to regulate my heart beat.

Hello Ryman and welcome to our forum!

There are plenty of people on here with lots of experience in dealing with all the problems AF throws at us so dont hesitate to post when you feel in need of support.

I assume that you are now back in normal ( sinus) rhythm after your visit to the ER. Are you in the UK ?

Sandra

I should have said also that it is important that you remain well hydrated and try to ensure that your diet is plentiful in potassium and magnesium rich foods. You can investigate the appropriate foods online that you will find easiest to incorporate into your diet.

Thanks and yes I’m back in normal rhythm. I also think stress is a factor. So I am trying to get a grip on that as well.

Yes..definitely stress, both the good and bad type I find.

Yes. I lost my dog, my next door neighbor, whom I was helping get through her cancer passed away and I had a hip replacement in the middle of all this. So stress and then the flu did it to me. I wonder if I would have sidetracked the episode if I had drank a lot more h20.

I doubt water on its own would have been enough. You now need to work on a stress free period and do plenty of homework on this site to make sure you stop it recurring; if you are back in normal rhythm it is easy to be quickly complacent, best to make changes early.
