Help! Too many tablets?

Can anyone put my mind at rest please? Thinking of several things at once, I can't remember if I took an extra Bisoprol by mistake! I take several tablets at once and was distracted in the middle of it. I take. 2.5 normally. What do you think, would it matter much on a fairly low dose? 99% sure I didn't take it twice, but can't be certain. Thanks

Oh dear...i have been in this position a few times which is why I have a sectioned tablet box and make it up for AM and PM a week in advance.

You will probably be able to tell by your reactions whether you have double dosed on Bisoprolol. I take this as and when starting at 2.5mg and gradually working up to 7.5/10mg. I have been given 5mg straight away in A& E.

Although not medically trained I would not think you can do any great harm at this relatively low dose.

Others may differ but my inclination is that it probably won’t be a vital mistake but you may notice the difference if you did take double your dose. Watch your HR during the next 12 hours that it doesn’t drop too low for you.

If in doubt ring your GP surgery for advice. If you feel dizzy and very unwell ring 111.

Deep slow breaths.

Thanks, I will. Seems much as usual at work now.

Good advice from Yatsura. I'd add that, as the deed is done - or maybe wasn't - there's not a lot you can do about it now except observe how you get on and maybe buy a pill dispensing box.

I'd not be worrying about it too much as it's surely better to take a dose twice rather than forget to take it - or wonder if you have forgotten to take it. There's a dilemma...

As you say, 2.5 is a fairly low amount. Lots of people seem to take 5mgs, some take 10mgs and I think I've seen someone mentioning 12.5mgs. I would think it unlikely that you'll experience dizziness or your heart rate dropping too low.

Thanks, at work now and seem much as usual apart from slight anxiety!

I used to be on 12.5 mg a day.

I'm sure you'll be fine on 5mg, maybe just a bit slower than usual and tired .

What is your heart rate at the moment? I know that mine has been as low as 38bpm without my EP being too concerned, although I did feel like death warmed up.

If you are in any doubt or feeling unwell phone 111, your GP or A+E

It's normal for me, 58, and I haven't felt any different so am assuming I didn't take the extra. You were on 12.5mg? Has it been reduced? Thanks for the reply.

Thankfully yes, down to 1.25 mg a day now and HR is in the low 60s , if I forget a dose it shoots up to 105bpm though

I take 5 mg as maintenance dose, and have been good by my EP I can take an extra one as a pill in the pocket top up if need be, up to 10 mg a day in other words.

I bought a pill box with spaces for 7 day worth, still forgot once or twice,so now take days section and put it in windowsill by the kettle,so it is in sight!so far so good!also put alarm on phone for evening dose as I don't drink tea 3rd after 6,pm!

Should read 'told' by my EP

Thanks, that's good advice. I think what happened was I was distracted by stuff I was thinking about, and lost track!
