4 and a half months post Flutter Ablation

All going well, apart from a few ectopic here and there. Four weeks ago I was discharged from EP by arrhythmia nurses with proviso that should symptoms return I phone them and they will arrange for me to go back to EP. In the last two weeks I've had two days where my Kardia has shown some AF results and unclassified readings. I've felt like my heart is going slightly faster and more ectopics. Is this still normal at this stage or should I be starting to worry? Should I contact the arrhythmia nurse or wait a little longer?

Hello jobristol, you are still within the “healing period”, but perhaps you could email your Kardia readings to your Arrythmia Nurse......

Thanks for your reply, all seems ok again so will see how it goes over the next week and then contact arrhythmia nurse if I need to. Think panic springs to mind, which obviously doesn’t help and makes it worse.

I think you are already worried, so I would contact the arrhythmia nurse to discuss. When you say AF coming after an ablation for atrial flutter (AFL), do you mean atrial fibrillation? AFL is regular, AF not, an oversimplification but broadly true.

Your EP may want to review your medication. Suggest you take along some long strips (1 minute) printed from your Kardia, for the nurse.

I have just returned from my 3 moths post-alation follow-up. My EP was totally unconcerned about ectopics and reckoned they should reduce over time. He pointed out that everyone has them, but you tend to get more in the months after ablation. The possibility of an occasional AF episode also did not concern him.

It seems to have stopped! I think part of the problem is that I see the odd AF reading and panic which obviously then makes it worse. I shall see how it goes over the next week and contact the arrhythmia nurse should I get any more AF readings just for reassurance. Many thanks for your reply.
