I was diagnosed with CHF and AF eight years ago. I had a pacemaker fitted which has been a Godsend. Last June my cardiologist changed my anti coag to digabatran and I have had no problems. However last night I woke to go to the toilet and spat small amounts of blood which cleared in about 5 minutes. Has anybody else had this happen?

Spitting blood in morning when waling
Thanks for responding. I had a chest x-ray the same time as the cardiologist changed my meds, also had an echo which came back clear. The amount of blood is minimal but it scares the life out of you when you see it. I was just wondering whether it could be the anti coag that was causing it, have no problems during the day.
Are you sure the blood is from your chest, not your stomach? Either way, definitely something to see your GP about asap, with you being on AC.
Given your huge weight loss in the last 12 months, I wonder if the dose of Dabi needs adjusting. Weight is not usually a factor in dosing, as far as I can see, but I did read a review which said perhaps it should be.
Get you gums checked out by your dentist. Most common cause of spitting blood.
I sometimes get this and am sure it comes from my nose down the back of my throat. I am on Apixaban and often get small amounts of blood in my nose. But it’s always better to get checked out even if it’s just to relieve the anxiety.
Did you check you hasent bit anything in your mouth
That’s good I got up in the morning once and I had bite the side of my mouth I cough and blood I spit out blood but then saw where it was comeing from but when I first went on apixaban I worred about alsorts but I have been on it 1 year and 3 Months jut a lot more careful I found out that when on apixaban you carnt have cranberries in any thing so have to ask when eating out if it has it in it’s in things you wouldent think it would be but glad you found out what it was corse by
