Anyone had extractions while on Xarelto or any other blood thinners? If so did you have to stop before and after? And how did you find the bleeding? Thanks for any replies 😊

No problem at all. I had a tooth extracted last year and I take Xarelto too. I take it every evening with my dinner so dentist arranged my appointment in the afternoon so didn’t have to stop taking it. Otherwise I would just have had to miss one dose prior to extraction. And nothing out of the ordinary with bleeding. Nothing to worry about at all in fact - just me and my dentist-phobia!!

I had two canine roots removed while on Apixaban- no bleeding at all.

I use Pradaxa and stopped night before extraction and morning of extraction then started again that evening.

I had a wisdom tooth removal; my dentist wouldn't have anything to do with it due to my Rivaroxaban, so I had to go to the local hospital. The dentist there was scathing about the professionalism and competence of practice dentists. He did not need me to stop (although I used to take my tablet in the afternoon. I suggested adrenaline-free anaesthetic and he advised against it, he said that the adrenaline was necessary to maintain the effect. He recommended a mix of adrenaline and adrenaline-free for best pain relief with minimal effect on AF.

interesting post above- my dentist said to have the adrenaline as it contracted blood vessels and helped bleeding to stop- however for some it stimulates AF as CD has outlined- very individual I think
