A Thank you to all who responded to my "TEE/TOE anxiety question.

Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts and experiences. They wereall helpful and enabled me to form my questions and approach to my doc re making my upcoming TEE as smooth as possible. I heard from my Watchman Device surgeon's nurse by phone this morn-Heather-who I've known for several years from my EP's office and I trust her. She assured me that for them sedation will mean for me I will be totally unaware of any 'goings on' They most likely will use Propulful which I have had in the past for cardioversions and it is a smooth, safe drug with an absolutely 'no unpleasant sx wake-up experience.' (Unfortunately this was the drug that caused Michael Jackson's death several years ago but that was because it was wrongly administered out of a safe hospital setting by a physician who was found guilty of malpractice and served prison time.) Used as it should be by anesthesia personnel in a controlled hospital setting there is no reason to fear this drug. Also Heather reassured me the procedure would be quick as all the doc will be checking is that my opening between my left atrial appendage and my atrium has healed and closed properly and it is safe for me to stop coumadin. I can't tell you how my anxiety level has plummeted. Without your input my anxiety level would most likely gone through the roof waiting to hear from my doc. It's scheduled for Feb 28th and I will post how it all went. Hopefully it will be one less thing we have to worry about medically. Thanks again, everyone. Burma (user name irina1975)

Well done Burma. I love that fairy juice !. I have never had any problem with TOEs so hope all shows up well.

Thanks Bob. That 'fairy juice' is fantastic. When I wake up there are a few minutes of feeling 'on top of the world'. The only problem with the med is I wake up so quickly my 'top of the world- I can do anything' feeling goes away too soon!LOL

Very glad to hear you've had your concerns put to rest, Burma, and you can go ahead and have the procedure knowing you're in good hands. If the results show you can stop taking the coumadin it will have been worth it. All the best.

Thanks mrsg46. Most times docs etc are honest and upfront but, I believe, in the interests of not wanting to scare us they couch their explanations in 'low-key' terms. I always want to know what I will be up against. Other patients who have 'been there' will tell you the whole truth-warts and all. This kind of info works best for me.

So pleased you are reassured and calm 🙏🏻. My son’s birthday is on the 28th Feb so two causes for celebration! I’m in the UK, you’re in the US and he’s touring Central and South America so I shall raise a glass to you both in the evening.

in reply toNickiC

Thanks NickiC. Actually 2 glasses will make me recover even faster. LOL And I will ask for a little extra propulful to give you a little 'buzz' LOL Just kidding!

Great that this forum helped you & gave such support as thats what this forum is all about

. Best thing i ever found after being diagnosed with this horrible AF

in reply toPattiann08

Hi Pattiann08. I agree. I've learned more truthful, 'this-is-how-it-really- is info from other afib patients here that I have from my docs. And I have a great group of docs. I believe it's because experiences and info comes from all over the world. Having a larger space to pull from is always better than one smaller source.
