hi everyone …thankyou for very kind posts…they were great fully received..I don’t think generally the public at large realise what AF is about and until you are unfortunate to acquire it (For wont of a better word) how debilitating it is. Further to my post earlier I saw the Rythm consultant today who was absolutely great…he said straight away I think you need a pacemaker …also another ablation, but before that a scan of the heart. As this was a private appointment at a Bupa hospital…I asked could this be done on the NHS …he said yes with a not too long wait! I was on cloud nine when we left….to think that after several debilitating and weary months of feeling so unwell there is some light at the end of the tunnel. I could have kissed this guy I don’t think he realised what it meant to me …I don’t expect miracles but it will be wonderful to have some quality of life again.

I still have to keep on the same regime of medication..he didn’t want me to change what I was taking. I am nearly on the maximum of Bisoprolol….interesting to read one post which mentioned this drug might be the cause of my breathlessness. The breathlessness at times is so bad I find it difficult to eat! But …..one can only be guided by the medical fraternity. I have done quite a bit of research on AF and have read up on the Maze procedure…..I know that it is being done at the Papworth hospital in Cambridge.. is this a cure for AF? Has anyone reading this site had it done?

I am most likely too old to be considered for it..but for younger people it could be the option. My thanks to all who read my post . So possibly after a pacemaker and another ablation I may be a new woman.

Hi lamp.

That's great news you are getting treatment. Even better news how you are so positive about it - that helps.

For me now I want Pulsed Field Ablation or the Wolf Mini Maze. I'm chasing both up and will keep the forum updated.

The Wolf Mini Maze would be my go to. I would have one today if I could.

You’ve had such a time of it, so glad that you have some light at the end of the tunnel. There are some lovely positive experiences of ‘pace and ablate’ in the forum.

This is good to read. So glad it looks like there's going to be a good outcome.

Why do you need another ablation, if you are having a P and A?

Only pacemaker plus ‘normal’ ablation I think.
