Diagnosis and possible discharge

Hi everyone!

Still in hospital and on 5 ltres O2, but the results are back and it turns out that I’ve had an early Christmas present from my 2 and 3 year old grandchildren, known as Respiratory Syncitial Virus, (the illness that is, not the grandchildren).

They just sneeze all over you, rub their snotty nose on their sleeve and move on, whereas my heart failure couldn’t cope and my lungs swilled with fluid.

If they can get my oxygen levels back up I can go home, so they’ll be gradually reducing them now.

A positive aspect was that I got to see my consultant who is behind with appointments through no fault of her own, and get up to date with my AF and HF. She is sending me to a geneticist in Belfast as she can’t find a cause for either condition, and without a cause obviously she has no cure to suggest.

In the meantime I must avoid all infections, (?!), and in the event of catching anything, must present at A&E immediately. (So much for my flu jab!)

As an aside, has anyone any experience of Punctate Inner Choroidopathy? I know this isn’t the correct forum, but a young member of my family was diagnosed with this over a year ago, in one eye, and found, while I was here, that it is now in her other. Quite devastating.

Am adding a pic. No, not me, but my new glasses. One had bought them online and had Specsavers put one’s prescription in them when one opened The Times!

Do so hate it when one is slavishly copied, but they do say imatation is flattering. 💕

Hope you are all as well as can be expected. Xxxx

Gosh you really have been through the mill this past year. I do hope things go better for you now. You have such a good sense of humour.

Love the picture......instantly brings to mind Jenny Joseph's poem ...When I am an old woman I shall wear Purple !

Best wishes

Sandra

You look smashing - definitely a colour scheme which suits you - I love purples and pinks.

A lot of positives in your post regarding onward referral, seeing your consultant - and a reason for the problem in the first place. Kids are walking virus factories - ! I hope your oxygen levels return to normal and you can get home quickly.

I'm sorry to read about your relative's eye problems - very distressing for you and the family.

Sending you very best wishes for a fast escape home.

Hi P0rtnahapp1e

Came across your post by accident. I have sight problems which have been diagnosed as possible PIC. I see my specialist every six weeks and have had injections in my eye to improve my sight. The Macular Society directed me to the University Hospital in Birmingham which has a PIC specialist. I contacted them and am waiting for an appointment. Their details are here

uhb.nhs.uk/punctate-inner-c...

I would also advice your family member to contact the Macular Society and there is a forum on this site for people with Macular problems.

Good luck to her. Problems with your site can are very scary.
