Almost 6 month post ablation and Mr. AFIB returned for a short visit.

After almost 6 month past my ablation in April I went for family holidays to Japan.

Had some extra beats over the last couple of month but nothing out of tbe ordinary.

Last few days felt a bit nervous sort of hyper and restless.

Did not sleep much last night as the junior kept me busy. This morning I woke up around 6 am and woooshh, suddenly in AFIB. Checked with my Omron 801 but knew without it, AFIB is visiting. HR up to 150 and every 2 minutes to the toilet to pee. Tried to stay calm, though some rough runs included. Took a rest, 2 hours later it converted back to NSR by itself.

Still on Pradaxa, 2x50 Labetalol beta blocker and 2x80 Diovan for hypertension.

Had yesterday 2 beer for dinner..... not sure it impacted.

Next follow up with cardiologist in 1 week. Lets see what he says. Definitely need to get rid of at least 20kg 😀

Still hope it will get better and it was only 1 short visit by our old foe.

Will keep you posted folks.

Cheers

T.

I think you may have answered our own question. Two beers? If you are not used to drinking this could well have been a trigger. Holiday heart is a common problem.

Yes weight loss has been shown very beneficial in AF so go for it big time. 20kg is not insignificant. If I put on five pounds extra I feel it instantly.

That said it is still early days.

Thanks for sharing hope your follow up with the cardiologist goes well take care Noramarie

Hi Thomas, I had a couple of short blips just after 6 months, but nothing since and that was around 10 months ago. As others have said, excess weight and alcohol do not help, so methinks you know the best course of action.....good luck, John
