I've been on Bisoprolol and Apixaban for two months and feel exhausted most of the time and quickly become breathless. I had an echocardiogram last week and I'm seeing a cardio consultant tomorrow. What questions should I ask?

Cardio consultation
Hi I can only make observations based on my own experiences. You do not state why you are taking the Apixaban. The echocardiogram has a look at the structure of the heart and so you should find out if it reveals any defects in your heart. The breathlessness and exhaustion could be caused by Bisoprolol but equally by an irregular heart rate. You should explain your discomfort and ask the Cardio what is the likely cause. If it is your heart rate then you can discuss the options for treatment. I would make certain that you have a BP test and also an ECG and get the cardio to go through them with you. Bisoprolol is a beta blocker and will slow the heart rate sometimes too much if your rate is already not high. I always like to understand what I have got, what issues will it give me, and what options for treatment do I have with what risks. Good luck. Terry
Terry, you very right in your observation. I am taking Bosoprolol as PRN for arrythmia estopic.Yes, it is reducing the energy level, but it stops arrhythmia. The faster is better.I do not let it go for hours.
Abixaban? Cardiologist insist on taking permanently in general and to prevent blood clotting during the irregular heart beat episodes, and possible stroke.
The question is for how long Abixaban should be taking , and how much harm will be given to Kidney.
What has been said about on patient day ? Thanks
